On first call with Putin, Biden raises election interference, bounties, Navalny poisoning

President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday afternoon, expressing U.S. objections to a variety of Kremlin actions, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday.

Psaki told reporters at Tuesday's press briefing that the call was scheduled to take place as she was behind the podium fielding press questions. She said the White House would issue a readout of the call later Tuesday afternoon.

Biden called intending to raise concern about a suspected Russian SolarWinds spying campaign that breached Justice Department email accounts, reports of Russian bounties reportedly placed on American troops and interference in the 2020 election, Psaki said. The president also intended to raise his concerns about the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the Kremlin's recent treatment of peaceful protestors demonstrating in support of him, the press secretary said.

Biden also intended to support Ukrainian sovereignty and his goal of extending a nuclear arms treaty for five years with Russia, Psaki said.

"His intention was also to make clear that the United States will act firmly in defense of our national interests in response to malign actions by Russia," Psaki told reporters.

Biden's agenda for his call with Putin struck a decidedly different tone than former President Donald Trump, who was the subject of significant criticism for his relatively soft rhetoric towards Russia, especially relative to his broader America-first approach to foreign policy. Trump routinely attempted to undermine widely-accepted evidence about the Kremlin's 2016 election interference, at one point telling reporters that he would take the Russian president's word over that of the U.S. intelligence community on the issue.

Why do you say it's not?

8% of all prisons—federal, state, and local—are operated by private companies. For immigration detention the number is close to 67% This Order does nothing about ICE detention nor state Prisons. This is just a roll back to an Obama era policy. Nothing new here

So then press your local and state government.
Something that is already happening in some states and local governments.

The problem is the amount of black men being locked up period. Especially when you compare it to whites for the same crime. Closing Federal facilities doesnt stop over policing and discriminaton

Did Trump ever have an Racial Equity Program? A Press Conference? An Executive order? Anything?

Closing private prisons ends federal for profit emprisonment.
Ok and how does that stop discrimination or reduce the amount of black men getting kicked up disproportionately? State prisons still exist. States will continue to make money off of cheap prison labor

The senate just held a vote on Rand Paul's motion that the impeachment trial is unconstitutional since Trump is not in office. Only 55 voted to table the motion.

Gotcha! There's no way GOP would vote for that. They want to get as far away from Trump as possible. The last thing they want is for a trial to bring out all the shit that they have allowed to happen under their watch.

It is in the Contract that the prison gets paid
1. so much per inmate
2. Even if the prison pop goes down. The Prison gets paid as if it was 95 % Full.

Since the state must pay for a 95% full , The courts make sure it is that full or more

That's why you have to vote in all elections ESPECIALLY the local ones. There's nothing the president can do about private prisons paid for by the state.

They're trying to save face with their consitutients at this point. Trump is gone and doing anything against him just further hurts their standing with their brand!

Also, GOP are crazy! End Trumps ability to possibly run for POTUS in 2024 now. Don't leave the door open for that nonsense again.
I can see the save face part and brand, but am not following the rest. I was sharing that Mitch will not vote to convict considering how he just voted in favor of Paul's bill that it's unconstitutional to try Drumpf.
