Joe Biden is now POTUS

Ok you guys are right and I am wrong.

"Mr. Schumer has said little of his strategy going forward other than calling Mr. McConnell’s demand unacceptable. The new majority leader seems content for now to let Democrats and Mr. Biden, a former longtime senator who has been reluctant to overturn the filibuster, simmer over Republican tactics.

Mr. Schumer has offered to organize the Senate under the terms of an agreement from 2001 — the last time the Senate was divided 50-50 — and give Republicans equal representation on committees, a gesture some Democrats saw as generous.

Yet given the deadlock, some liberal activists are urging Mr. Schumer to respond aggressively and immediately blow up the filibuster to enact the organizing resolution over Mr. McConnell’s objections, handing Democrats the power they won in the election. They argue that since the measure does not become law, the move would leave the legislative filibuster intact, and should win the support of even Democrats like Mr. Tester who want to preserve it.

“You could see the Democrats rally around the idea of at least changing the rules to bar a filibuster of this procedural resolution so they can take their gavels and commence the work of the Senate,” said Brian Fallon, a former aide to Mr. Schumer who is now a progressive judicial activist with the group Demand Justice. “It would be a mini-nuclear option, of sorts.”

Mr. Schumer’s allies say he still hopes to strike a deal with Mr. McConnell and is not at the crisis stage yet. Mr. Tester said he would urge Mr. Schumer and Mr. McConnell “to sit down at the table and lock the door and get it squared away.”

What exactly are you arguing then? I haven't seen anyone say that Schumer couldn't act if he had the votes...

He just doesn't let go.

if Schumer had the votes, Mitch wouldn't be doing this shit. The Dems aren't going to kill the filibuster either. Mitch doesn't want them to do it either. That removes all his negotiating leverage in Congress.

All he wants to do is keep Schumer powerless as long as possible and he knows that's Schumer will need to burn political capital to get Mitch to do something that won't cost Mitch anything.

The just shows you how weak Schumer is. He should have demanded that Sinema just not make a comment if she wasn't doing to support it and Mitch should have said he wouldn't put her in a position to need to vote. But she needed her to not go against the caucus so that Mitch couldn't fuck them.

But she pretty much said "I'm not helping....you gotta go figure that shit out with Mitch". And she did even worse, she went on TV saying there is no circumstance in which she would support it. I mean, she "minus whale" say she's caucusing with the GOP until Schumer gets Mitch so sign an agreement because that's what she's doing.

Manchin didn't even go as far as Sinema.

This is the shit right here that's weaksauce by the dems. They want Schumer to work it out while not giving him the power he need to easily work it out.

So to your point, they come out in support of the Filibuster if Mitch doesn't sign the fucking power sharing agreement that was proposed and that was the standard the last time there was a split.

The gun is only powerful when someone knows you have bullets in it and you're willing to use it.

They're sending Schumer in there with Mitch and Mitch knows he has no bullets in his gun.

I'm not arguing with you either man. I'm just providing commentary on the article you posted.

  • It was McConnell — not Schumer — who laid out the schedule for former President Trump's impeachment trial, demanding it to be pushed to mid-February. Schumer acquiesced, arguing he would use the time to pass President Biden's Cabinet nominations.
  • White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki cited McConnell — not Schumer — while discussing those nominees. "I know that our secretary of State is just about to get confirmed, or so Sen. McConnell tells us," she told reporters Friday.
  • Schumer told reporters to "ask McConnell" when they peppered him with questions last week about Janet Yellen's confirmation vote for Treasury secretary
:frozen:

This is what happens when you don't pull McConnell to the side and run your foot up his ass on day 1. Now he's going to try you! Put your hands on him brah! Let that frog know what's up!

Dudes like McConnell need to be gooned and hemmed up! He's way too comfortable...

If not, He's going to punk you for 2-4 years with this shit!

Ain't Schumer don't flex on him..See what happens.

Those 50 need to get their head out their ass or they will get fucked like the pussies they are.

Brah! They don't have 50. That's the next level to the game. You have strategic plants in their party. Get it? You call on those cells when you need a specific "interference" done. Not all Dems are really Dems? Ya' Dig?

Dems better wake up and start purging those plants out of their groups! Straight hand checks!

Democrats are not in a position to go on purity tests. You have 2 democratic senators from Arizona and Georgia for only 2 years and you’re talking like Alonzo in the court yard.

There's more than one way to do a "purity" test. Speaking of which how's your Hymen doing today? Still in take or did Trump grab it on the way out?

Mitch, didn't fold. He got what he wanted. POWER and white 'moderate' democrats only care about feeding the military to feed their pockets.

Yeah

Krystin Simena is a purple haired "bi sexual" white woman trying to play a moderate.

fuck these crackers man

I hate shit like this! These "elect" officials don't CARE about losing their jobs in 1,2,3,4+ Years. That's why they clown the way they do. They already have a gig lined up for their non-sense. There needs to be threat of real immediate consquences like in a matter of weeks and no longer than 1 month for elected officials. For example, cats like Cruz and the white chick shouldn't be able to step foot inside a government building after the shit they tried to pull off.

Truly holding these folks to task shouldn't be up to their buddies in government that can look the other way either.

Until you have a system that is quick and non-bias with serious repurcussions they don't care and will do THEIR will and not the PEOPLES will.

For an elected representative to say "I've made up my mind and nothing can change it?" Fuck you think your are? Fuck you think you working for? Yourself?

This is why they clown! No real consquences to their bullshit..."Maybe" they could lose their seats in *20 years!
When you don't have a strong system in place to check your countries leaders this is what you get.

Wanna get things done in this country? Start provding real and quick consquences to these elected officials. I'm talking about taking pensions, jail time, freezing bank assest etc. Real shit!

Christopher Browning, a historian of the Holocaust and Nazi Germany, told me that McConnell has been almost “Houdini-like at escaping his own devil’s pact” with Trump. In a widely admired essay in The New York Review of Books, from 2018, Browning called McConnell “the gravedigger of American democracy,” and likened him to elected officials in Weimar Germany who struck early deals with Hitler, mistakenly believing that they could contain him and his followers.

When I asked Browning if he still regarded McConnell in this way, he said that the new Minority Leader had “cut a better deal than most.” McConnell was “lucky that Trump was so lazy, feckless, and undisciplined.” Hitler didn’t go golfing, Browning pointed out. But Browning found little to celebrate in McConnell’s performance.

“If Trump had won the election, Mitch would not be jumping ship,” he noted. “But the fact is Trump lost, and his coup failed. And that opened an escape hatch for Mitch.” Browning warned, however, that “the McConnell wing was ready to embrace Trump’s usurping of democracy—if Trump could pull it off.”

This is so disturbing, but I believe it.
