Conor McGregor Announce Retirement From UFC.... Calling It Quits At Age 31......

I mean I was more so referring to the original cast in the mid 90s back when i watched as a kid and Pro Wrestling is more similar to Power Rangers than sports so I was more so comparing to Vince. Saban was paying the original cast like $600 per week on like 70 hrs a week of filming, 6 days. During the casting call, he made sure to cast only ppl that had a martial arts background so they can perform their own stunts since he didn't wanna pay for stunt ppl. They were doing dangerous stunts in unsafe conditions, Amy Jo Johnson the original pink ranger almost died a couple times on set doing dangerous stunts in those conditions. Austin St. John the original Red Ranger was sleeping in his keep during that time, they got no syndication and no royalties on video games and toys which was the real gold mine that made Saban a billionaire back in 2001. When the original red, yellow and black ranger tried to re-negotiate their deal Saban got rid of them quickly. Pink Ranger ended up quitting too after the injuries and the near death incidents for her. Also Saban like Vince loved to incorporate racial based stereotypes into his product, from the black dude being the black ranger and asian girl being yellow ranger to Zach the black ranger always breaking out into a pop lock or breakdance randomly outa nowhere. Having him on the hoop court beating both Jason and Tommy by himself 2 on 1 etc. And Vince has had an endless list of racial based stereotype gimmicks for his wrestlers that the only industry that can compare would be porn

You talking bout Power Rangers fam?

In a MMA thread? Hahaha....

I mean, you're right..they get a new batch of kids every 2-3 years now it seems like..

Still funny though, haha

Vince owns all the names in WWE too so if your Wrestler name is same as your govt name like Cena, Vince will get a piece of all his Hollywood and earnings outside of WWE

Francis Ngannou has an escalating contract that most recently saw him at $130k/$130k. Jairzinho Rozenstruik is presumably on $80k/$80k. Curtis Blaydes is on $85k/$85k as of his last fight. That's three of your top-six ranked UFC heavyweights right there. This can't even compare to any top 20 HWs in boxing

Vince owns the right to the names he created but not the govt name, that can’t be true cause I think it’s illegal :smh:

They say the Major Leagues have higher revenue but lets take the leagues that have comparable revenue to UFC and compare average salaries to the UFC's 138k average

Australian Football League: Revenue of $754M - average salary $253k
MLS: Revenue of $851M - average salary $410k
Russian Premiere League: Revenue of $813M - average salary $877k
NASCAR: Revenue of $660.8M: Developmental drivers make a salary of $100k-300k plus another $200k in prize winnings on average. Average career earnings $12.5 mil which is about the same career earnings of a Facebook software engineer

Russia is lucrative for certain athletes, Eto'o got a 3 yr $87 mil contract back in 2011 which was the highest salary at the time for the sport in the world. Taurasi, Griner and other WNBA players were going out there to earn anywhere from $1mil to close to $2mil a season which is many times more than WNBA

Yet medical doctors in Russia make an average of $700/month...

The legislators in the Russian Duma make $7000/ month though...

What you think of Michael Chandler?

He’s really good. Excellent wrestling background. Same collegiate team as Woodley, Askren, etc. Spent nearly a decade as one of the faces of Bellator. Wish he had come over sooner, as he’s nearly mid-30s now. Hooker is a tough first match-up in the UFC. Should be fun to see how well Chandler does these next few fights.

For anyone looking for great MMA action, watch both Chandler vs. Alvarez fights or highlights on Youtube. Great battles. Neither guy backing down. Plenty of momentum shifts.

He may experience a mix of wins and losses in the UFC. Might make his way to a title shot at some point, if things play out well.

I think Hooker is too long for him, dude is like 5'7 tops...

Hooker is 6'1 or taller

I never watched bellator but I'm happy to see new blood in the UFC.

Good stuff

Yeah - Hooker is tall and rangy. Training partner and good friend to 185lb champ Adesanya. I think he beats Chandler too. Chandler needs to minimize the distance striking. I was surprised at how Barboza kicked Hooker’s ass. Though Poirier vs Hooker was a fight of the year contender last year. As was Hooker vs Felder. Side note ... Hooker also KO’d Gilbert Burns a few years ago. Burns is fighting Usman for the 170 title in the months ahead.

Bellator is tough to follow these days. I mostly just check Youtube highlights. Don’t have CBS Sports, or DAZN previously. Wish they were still on Paramount, and formerly Spike.

@totto

I respect Chandler’s grit. He lost and regained the Bellator title a few times.

As for the best Bellator fighters now?

AJ McKee and the Pitbull Brother, P. Freire.
