NBA Season is Returning This Year!!!!!!!

Lakers, Kyle Kuzma agree to 3-year, $40M extension

Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma has agreed to a multiyear extension, the team announced Sunday.

Sources told ESPN the contract is worth $40 million over three years and includes a player option prior to the 2023-24 season. Kuzma, 25, finalized talks on his extension Sunday, sources said.

In a rare non-max rookie extension that includes a player option, the deal allows for Kuzma to become an unrestricted free agent in his prime at 28 years old. That's a benefit should Kuzma outperform his extension, which starts with the 2021-22 season.

He is competing for a starting job on the Lakers, who will begin defense of their NBA title on Tuesday night against the LA Clippers at Staples Center.

In his first three NBA seasons with the Lakers, Kuzma has started 114 games and averaged 16.0 points. He was the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

"I mean, it's good for him," teammate Anthony Davis said Sunday. "You don't have that contract anxiety for the whole year. Now that it's out of the way, you can go out there and play, which he was doing anyway. He was having a great preseason. He's been playing great for us in the bubble and all of last year. He's locked in. He made a great jump on both ends of the floor.

"So it's good for him. We're excited to have him here. I know he's excited to be here. And he's a champion. You deserve it. I'm glad that the Lakers were able to work something out with him to be able to allow him to just go out there and play and not worry about contracts for the rest of the season."

The deadline for signing rookie contract extensions for the draft class of 2017 is Monday night, the eve of the start to the regular season.

I guess the Kuzma deal is good for both sides. Kuzma, probably not starting this year so I don't see any team offering him a max contract. He's getting the same contract KCP got who's gonna be a starter. I bet he's looking at what Ingram got though. 5 for 158 when they both averaged the same points when they played together but they're in totally different situations.

Ingram is making 31 a year but he's not in L.A. and not playing for the Lakers. Kuzma by the time this contract is up must be a full time starter. Lebron finishing his 20th season, AD, just turning 30 they'll need an above average #3 that can be a #2 when needed due to Lebron's age. If Kuz can prove in the next couple years he can be that guy I'm sure Rob will max him out.

Yes Lebron does have a history of getting bums and average players paid, but in this case it’s different.

Kyle Kuzma Career Avg:

16.0 ppg 5 rpg 1.9 apg Contract 3 Years 40 million.

Yes Gordon’s white, but still! :roflmao:

Gordon Hayward Career Avg:

15.5 ppg 4.4 rpg 3.5 apg Contract 4 years 120 million.

De’Aaron Fox Career Avg:

16.2 ppg 3.4 rpg 6.1 apg Contract 5 years 163 million.

Only 6 stadiums are allowing fans.... I don't think they should go back to the bubble yet...

Then again I am in one of the cities that's allowing fans so I'm a bit biased
Is it 6? Watching the Jazz game the other night they said it was 11 teams letting some fans in. :dunno:

The system is broken when you have a Rudy Gorbert getting money on par with LeBron James and league MVP talent. The entire "max salary" concept is a joke that robs players like Lebron of fair pay while grossly overpaying the likes of limited specialists like Gorbert.

Shit, we need it for the rest of society.

Nobody is bigger than basketball, nothing wrong with everybody eating.

Would you prefer a salary cap with no player max/minimums?

He was ass last night.....had just 4 points.....his defense is atrocious.....its about as cringing to watch as the Cowboys secondary. Cole Anthony of the Magic went off.
And thats his issue. Cant shoot and dont play defense. If he played or could play defense then one could live with his shooting or lack there of....

Memphis was #7 but they backed out earlier today. Some teams are allowing fans in January but there's only 6 right now

Cleveland
Houston
NOLA
Orlando
Toronto (playing games in Florida)
Utah

San Antonio and Atlanta allowing fans in January.

Not sure what a sports liberal/conservative is. :dunno:

You seem to be a fiscal conservative when it comes to sports.

Your proposal would benefit maybe 5-10 players at the expense of hundreds more. Ronald Reagan shit. :smh:

Yes. That atleast requires executives to use their brain in assessing fair compensation and team building and prioritizing of assets.

No idiot. I dont believe government should be run like business and i dont think corporation should be run like government. I believe in a equitable distribution of profits among labor on the merits. And i believe these owners- most of whom are apex capitalist who espouse free market principals when it benefits them- are fucking hypocrites to suddenly turn to socialist-like compensation distribution practices when its time for them to pay their workforce. The cap itself is anti free market, and the further implementation of max contract restraints is doubly punitive.

And if he doesn't, he will be making enough money to actually get a decent player for him.
