Its different in GS because the ball moves alot there and everybody is used to playing off ball/sharing. Still, the ball usually ended up in Durant's hands for an iso. I think he lead the team in shot attempts in his time there. So he was off ball but not a role player by any means.

But he kinda had to with GS due to Klay's lack of creating his own shot and Steph difficulty with dealing with defenders with length.
For all Kyrie isn't, one thing you can't say is he can't break a defense down and the same with Harden. KD is essence play the wing and let both break down the defense for open shots. That's what would also be the case for Joe Harris. So it puts the defense in a very fucked situation. Let Harden or Kyrie go one on one and stay at home with KD & Harris or help and give those shooters open shots. Your fucked either way.
I also think this works to an obvious lesser extent with Levert who has shown to break down defenses consistently thus my resistance to trade. Keeping Dinwiddie also can do the same off the bench and have Allen there for lobs. I think we compete for a chip as constructed now honestly

Regarding KD's role, your breakdown isnt wrong. I just think he will want to be more then a catch and shoot wing player. If you compare his role to Harris, who is a real role player, thats a problem right there.
