I was just talking to a few people about this a couple hours ago and This is just speculation but...... I think Trump and Republicans cheated a little bit but the mail in ballots Nullified their whole scheme. I really think that the GOP tried to manipulate a few votes here in there like they did in 2016 but they could not manipulate the mail in ballots. This is why Trump was telling his people to vote by feet and fucking with the post office. This is why Trump is some Republicans are going to ape crazy right now because Trump is not the only one going to face some legal trouble in this administration.

There isn't really anything they have to lose. Republicans are still going to typically vote in person, and Democrats by mail. That likely isn't going to change. The same argument is going to apply if it's close again
