Mitch pretty much controls the money. He'll definitely push for more voter suppression and encourage his caucus to do it. Most of the voter suppression is done at the state level since the VRA was gutted. He'll use the two months to get the rest of his judges through (which he just convened the Senate to do so) and then he'll have his causes promote voter suppression laws in their states which he is already doing. That will also help him remain the Senate Majority Leader. I mean it's pretty obvious as he's already started talking about "lawful votes" and shit.
GOP has 22 fucking seats to defend in 2022. You better believe voter suppression is going to his #1 priority before the midterms. I think there is a misunderstanding that the SML only passes federal law and has no impact on state law. Mitch helps the Senators raise the money they need to campaign. He sets a lot of their overall caucus agenda while letting them do what they need to do locally.
Who do you think gave Collins permission not to vote for the SC nominee? SHe didn't make that decision on her own. She did it after Mitch told her she already had the votes. Even though that's a federal vote, Mitch often wields his power to weight on in state issues to make sure he secures the Senate Majority. Voter suppression is about to be high on his list.
