I used to be someone who voted democrat straight down the ticket, because this is what I was taught. But, as I began to understand politics, particularly local politics, I realized that this was just a waste of my vote.
I concede that national politics and local politics are somewhat different in partisan policies. But, I still feel the general principal is the same. I know some asshole black folk that deserve to be put on a island with no food. All skin folk ain't kinfolk, we know this.
However, when it comes to politics, we lose all reasoning and logic. How can a sensible black person vote all Republican and not acknowledge that many of the party members are racist?? How can a sensible black person vote all democrat and not acknowledge that some of its party members are horrible business people and can not run a city, county, state, ect?
In the 2020 election, it was in black people's best interest to vote against Trump who was republican. But, can I say that it will be in our best interest to vote democrat in 2024? No. Because I have yet to see what has unfolded for my people.
