NBA Season is Returning This Year!!!!!!!

Not sure i get the point.

Does the NBA need more ways to make their regular season games meaningless?

If you a 10 seed you shouldn't sniff the playoffs period. Getting the fuck off my tv and on to Cancun is really doing you a favor.

They think it's going to attract more attention

I see that happening in the NFL, because you might get good teams missing the playoffs because of sorry ass Philly or Washington

but in the NBA, if you're a Lakers fan or Toronto fan, why the fuck would you care more about the season because of sorry ass Washington or Sacramento fighting for a playoff spot.

How does the attract the casual fan or fan of a team?

It's only going to attract sorry ass fans of the Suns, Hornets, Timberwolves and Wizards.

damn, the Celtics have three picks again

They're already young

They need to package Hayward with a pick

I could already see,the Cavs owner pondering to make this fucking mood....

Chris Paul moves like he’s his own fucking agent in the NBA. I don’t think he needs one. Ray Allen used to represent himself.

You gotta post a warning before you drop world shattering news like that

Even though I don't hate on the money athletes make but I can see why people do. These mf's really complaining about coming to work about 3 weeks earlier? How can these niggas not be eager to get back to hooping? They've essentially had the longest "off-season ever this year so it can't be about rest. How could you not be ready to get after it just for the love of the game but also willing to forfeit billions as well?

It’s a job, if you have a job you’d probably rather not start before Christmas too.

Yes they make millions, and they’ll continue to make their millions whether they start Dec 22nd or the Dec 26th.

Again, I’m sure they love playing basketball but again. It’s a job. I’m sure they’d rather wait until after New Year’s so that they can chill with their friends and family before the NBA regular season grind.

Correct but they are employees and as employees they don't "own the company" thus they have no say. There's folk working at McDonald's or even on Salary in corporate that don't want to work on Christmas but they will be. But they'll be making less than $100 that day while certain dudes will make a $100000 for 3 hours. Shit can be much worse lol.

They do have a say, they have a players union and they were actively negotiating a time. They also had a choice in coming back to play in the bubble.

Again, it’s a job and most people would rather start their job after Christmas or after the New Year. Once they start playing, it’s non-stop until June. If you’re a player you most likely want it to start as late as possible.

You mentioned the money, they’re going to paid their money regardless. So why would they want to start before Christmas or New Years if they’re gonna get their money anyway?

From a fans perspective I hear you, “Getcho ass on the court and play because you’re paid millions”! I get it, but from a players perspective you’d feel differently.

Nah, their money is tied to a bunch of clauses and league contracts (like the tv deals). They arent just getting their money regardless. The players lose a ton of money by starting later.

Yes the players will be affected in the long run by things such as salary cap and player revenue.

But the players will be paid whether the season starts on Dec 22nd or after Christmas.

On a conference call with the league's general managers on Monday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver told the top team basketball executives that "time is running out" on the possibility of starting the 2020-21 season prior to Christmas Day and potentially salvaging hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, sources told ESPN.

Discussions with the National Basketball Players Association continued over the weekend and into Monday, but the union's reluctance to agree to a Dec. 22 start and a reduced 72-game regular season has left the league fearful it has only several days left before opening training camps around Dec. 1 for a pre-Christmas tip is no longer a realistic possibility, sources said.

The NBA believes there is somewhere between $500 million and $1 billion in revenue losses next season and beyond by failing to start the season in December, sources said.

The NBA wants to start the season on Dec. 22 so that the League can generate additional revenue from TV rights for the Christmas Day games. The earlier start would also give the League a 72-game season, which means millions more dollars from broadcasts and advertising. If the NBA starts the season in January, like the players want, there’s a 50-game season on the table but at the cost of $500 million to $1 billion in revenue. The deadline for the two to come to a decision is Friday. That would be less than two weeks before the 2020 NBA Draft on Nov. 18, mind you.

The issue is the players don’t want to start the season after just wrapping up the 2019-20 season in early October. The quick turnaround gives most players who participated in the NBA bubble and postseason very little time for an offseason. The quick start also shrinks the window for free agency to take place. It will give unrestricted and restricted free agents less time to make a decision on their future before training camp would need to begin.

Collectively the players have power. I’m not against waiting. But at some point they have to get back to their normal schedule.

I thought they would lose money if they don't start before Christmas? I think that's why Silver urging the shit. The players want to start a whole month later, not just before Christmas.

Actually bro, if I was a player I'd be ready to go...ESPECIALLY if I wasn't in the bubble. I'm not saying, "Play, cuz you get paid Millions" but I am saying, "Oh you don't want to go work?!?! Oh there's a billion folks that feel that same way. If you gotta do it, just do it." Some folks haven't played since 8 months ago. Shit I love hooping, and when I can't I don't feel right and I don't get paid one damn cent lol so if they really loved the game they'd be itching to get back out there. They've had rest. But hey, just an opinion.

I definitely feel where you’re coming from regarding playing basketball! I love playing basketball too, I miss playing indoors because gyms in my area aren’t open

I think some players are eager to return but for many it’s just a job.

Think about teams that aren’t good, why would they be in a rush to play just to lose?:roflmao:

Lol yeah. Cats like Donovan Mitchell eager but yeah other dudes probably like, "We can start the shit in May all I care"

I get it. I am interested to see them start before Christmas just to see how many Superstars "load manage" till MLK Day lol

I Definitely want to see NBA basketball by Christmas, I want them on the court as soon as possible!

But I can understand if many players want to wait, especially the Lakers.

You know, coming off of our Championship Season!
