Kyrie Irving denies he was taking a shot at LeBron James with Kevin Durant quotes

NBA Twitter was, er, atwitter for much of Thursday when the Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving spoke on a Kevin Durant podcast about how, for the first time in Irving’s career, he’ll have someone else he trusts who can make shots too.
That, of course, made everyone think he was throwing shade at his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James.
But in a follow-up video, Irving denied it.
“Why must it always be brother against brother? Why?” he wondered. “If I’m addressing anyone, I’ll say their name.”
“Don’t listen to the false narratives, let people live their lives,” he continued. “It’s just a game. Talk about the art, talk about the sport, we talk openly, we talk freely.”
He then went on to say media was “entertainment” and he wouldn’t “let it put me against anybody, anymore, at any point.”
Obviously, we can’t get inside Irving’s head to know if he was not-so-subtly taking a shot at James. But what about this angle: it’s probably a really good idea to pump up his relationship with Durant since they’ll be taking the court together for the first time since they signed in Brooklyn. Think more about it that way.

19,21,24 and 33. Those are the win totals each year Kyrie was with the Cavs before Lebron got there.
Once Lebron came back to Cleveland they went to 4 straight Finals.
Kyrie was a novelty act before Lebron returned to Cleveland and Kyrie hasn’t done much since he left Cleveland except be on teams that were better without him.
In short, it’d be nice if Kyrie shuts the fuck up!
and he actually APOLOGIZED to Lebron about his immature behavior..
and with all his brotherhood pro black player unity stuff
I do not see WHY he chose to do this
cause all it does is further the narrative that he is NOT to be taken seriously.
I agree with all that you said. Kyrie’s a very talented player, but without Lebron he’s just be a talented basketball player with no true career success. No Finals, no ring so he should be grateful and pay homage to Lebron.
Without KD, he’s just be another talented player on a Brooklyn team that wouldn’t be successful.
Bottom line, he talks too much to have done not much without Lebron.
Keep in mind I like Kyrie as a player, but without Lebron he’d be “Kemba Walker”.
But not as well liked by teammates!

Take that 19 off (the year prior). What I noticed is steady improvement (13 game improvement in 2 seasons) with the Cavs choosing Dion Waiters and Anthony Bennett as top picks to help Kyrie.
When it comes down to it, we need to see the Lakers/Nets finals within the next two seasons to shut all this shit up.
My bad, they did win 21 instead of 19
And hopefully they do play each other in the Finals in the next 3 years, that’d be epic!
Nah that 19 win season was the year prior to Kyrie being drafted.
Doc Rivers fired because of Michael Porter Jr’: Steve Balmer furious with Clippers front office for tagging MPJ as ‘undraftable’
Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO and the owner of the LA Clippers fired Doc Rivers partly because of Micheal Porter Jr.
The meltdown of the Clippers against the Nuggets was not well received by Steve Ballmer. Ryen Russilo and Bill Simmons both heard Ballmer went ballistic after the Clippers blew the lead, and wanted to fire all coaches and players alike.
The frustration is understandable. The Clippers have won only 3 playoff series since Ballmer took over. Ballmer has spared no expense on the team.
He had a very highly paid coaching staff, a star-studded roster, and a highly paid analytics team. Doc Rivers and his team did not listen to the analytics team repeatedly telling them to play Zubac over Harrell, which could have been a key difference-maker in the series.
Back in 2018, the Clippers had the #12 and #13 pick in the draft. They ended up drafting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson.
They traded both of them away. Back then, Steve Ballmer had asked the Front Office to draft Micheal Porter Jr. The Front Office were of the opinion that MPJ was ‘undraftable’.
The Denver Nuggets drafted MPJ and we saw how that turned out. Porter Jr is a young star on the rise, and that just further aggravates Ballmer. Ballmer was familiar with MPJ, both being from Seattle.
The future of the Clipper looks bleak
What would add salt to the wounds is that the Clippers have no young star, and considering they’ve traded away their first-round picks for the next 8 years, things don’t seem so good.
Kawhi and PG both become free-agents next season, and with the bench players’ contracts also expiring soon, things seem messy for the Clippers. They had really gone all out these two seasons, with the aspirations to get their first ring.
