Anyone else have difficulty explaining tech to their older parents?

Man, my mom is in her 70's. She lives in a different state than me. I just spent 2 hours trying to explain to her how to mirror her iPhone to her Roku t.v. She still couldn't do it.

She kept getting caught up and stuck on irrelevant details. She fell for every red herring. Or, she would be on the wrong screen, habitually.

My blood pressure is up. I need a drink. And even though it's still early, I kind of feel like my whole weekend is ruined.

Anyone else have problems explaining tech to their older parents?

I tell my Father, Click the BIG BLUE button that says download, Some how he does not see the Big Blinking Blue Button, He will restart reading the screen from the Top Left, I resay , In the middle of the screen is a Big Blinking Blue Button ! ! What ? Where ? Huh ? and then he keeps reading every word on the page till he gets to the Big Blinking Blue Button,. Even then he can get into some weird loop of clicking the wrong thing and having to start over from the beginning, What should take 3 minutes will take at least 45 to explain

My dad is 73. He's had his computer for 12 years. He still types with 1 finger. He's had his email compromised a number of times. He doesn't own a cellphone. He used a VCR up until about 2 years ago (got a DVR). Has thought many generic pop-up ads are viruses. Has called me asking for help. Whenever I visit there I run the cleaners & update stuff for him. His gf bought him an IPad for his birthday 6 months ago. He loves it.

Mom isn't too savvy with tech stuff, but has always been up on the latest. TV, Macbook, IPhone, IPad, etc. Knows what to Google & Youtube for tutorials, explanations, etc. She's sitting in the hospital recovering from a broken hip at the moment. Chilling with the Ipad. Talked to her a few mins ago.
