Yeah, people really put the whole movement in a box. Especially since a lot fans kinda went overboard with the "look" out of nowhere. Dudes and women you knew forever were all of a sudden becoming caricatures of "neo-soul" artists.Naw..I don't ever remember Remy Shand being the face of Neo Soul. What I remember killing Neo Soul and conscious rap was the backpack label and how that became a negative. On top of that people were moving back towards the more raunchy music.
