With two major movies getting delayed again, AMC pushes back its reopening date.
By Mat Elfring on July 22, 2020 at 5:59AM PDT

As the COVID-19 pandemic forces social distancing and closures of businesses where people gather, many of us look for a return to normalcy. However, with some states opening up public venues a little too early, there are new confirmed case spikes in the coronavirus for states like Florida. AMC Theatres was originally planning on reopening on July 15, but plans have changed once again.
The month of July was going to see two major releases during the month: Mulan and Tenet. However, last week both films were delayed once again. Mulan was pushed back to August 21 and Tenet moved to August 12. Because of this, AMC Theaters is pushing back its opening date now to July 30, according to Deadline.
"We continue to devote extraordinary resources into our plan to operate our theaters with a hyper commitment to the safety and health of our guests and associates, notably in the United States through our new AMC Safe & Clean initiative," AMC CEO and president Adam Aron said in a statement. "Our theater general managers across the U.S. started working full time again today and are back in their theaters gearing up to get their buildings fully ready just a few weeks from now for moviegoers. That happy day, when we can welcome guests back into most of our U.S. theaters, will be Thursday, July 30."
AMC was already preparing to get back into the swing of things, reopening 450 multiplexes around the country with strict guidelines both patrons and employees in order to minimize the risk of spreading the coronavirus. However, Aron received some criticism recently for saying, "We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary." However, within hours, AMC changed its stance, and all guests will now have to wear masks when the theater chain reopens its doors.
Additionally, the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die also got its release date moved around again. Now, the film will arrive five days sooner on November 20 in the US and on November 12 in the UK.

It don't look like they will ever open up like they used to. I don't see me going back to no theaters anytime soon! So what now? Streaming is the new way to do business. I'd pay 20 for a flick I want to see. Plus the ability to pause and rewind changes the game.
These Movie studios better catch up with the times they were hoping the old business model would last for ever just like the record companies did, streaming is the future. I say again we know there are digital copies of these movies on a studio sever some where that needs to be hacked

They need to just call it a day and buy Netflix/Disney streaming stocks....

Then get ready to get Fatal Affair type movies

that works for some movies
but big budget films like James Bond, MCU, Fast flicks, etc require a theatrical release in order to make a profit.
All those movies would have had to break bread wit the movie theatre.. If I'm a studio fuck breaking bread with the theater I'm releasing that on streaming and making all the money... Lot of them shits making close to a billion without theatre connection... Sooner or later they gonna cut ties why not start now

it worked for Scoob & Trollz to a degree
but the studios pushed Fast, WW, Black Widow, James Bond, Mulan and Tenet back. Those flicks cost hundred of millions of dollars to produce not including marketing costs and points ppl are getting on back-end box office receipts

even with the split for major blockbusters there is too much money tied in to an international theatrical release. I'll do so more research but i think most movies make most their bank on theatrical releases.

plus we all know once a flick is released on demand you lose a shitload of money to pirating.
in the current model studios make money on the theatrical release, renting/on-demand, buying and eventually liscensing to a cable network/streaming service. They dont wanna take an L the theatrical release part.

if theatres die the whole model would have to change
we wouldnt get as many big-budget blockbusters or they would have to charge $50-100 to rent new releases

If you owned a theatre you wouldn’t be saying that, broke niggas always squawking about what “they” should do and you can’t wait on “them” to build or create something so you can go patronize it..

If you own something like a theatre you’re planning a bounce back in whatever creative way possible, not take your ball and go home

I almost want to say, who the hell would go sit in a movie theatre, but I'm sure there would be quite a few people willing to go. I doubt enough to make it worth opening though. No way I'm sitting in a fucking movie theatre until 2023 at least.

the funny thing is they been doing this drive in movie test in some places and it seems to be working out.... Might have to look into that scenario

Theaters will return back to Business, but it’s not happening until a vaccine comes out for this Covid-19 and that’s not expected to happen to next summer the earliest.

People love going to theaters and a large majority of movies are specifically made to be viewed on the big screen.

Since the 1950s almost every decade they said something was gonna be the death of theaters.

TV was going to kill theaters in the 50s

TV was going to kill theaters when old thearatical releases began appearing in the 60s

The VHS/Beta Max player was gonna kill thearters in the 70s.

Cable TV was gonna kill theaters in the 80s.

Satellite TV and DVD was gonna kill theaters in the 90s

The DVR and high speed Internet was gonna kill theaters in the 2000s

And home thearters/sound systems were gonna kill thearters in the 2010s.

And always, Hollywood And thearters adjusted to the change and used it for their advantage.

They will get over this Covid-19 in due time.

Those movies going to have to wait until next year most likely is too dangerous to go to a movie theater right now

They better get them all leather seats so people can wipe down their own area with disinfectant.

You sound like a broke mofo.... no doubt you don't own a theater... and like I'm shedding fucking tears for a major theater business owner.... your caping ass must work in a concession stand, don't you Barney?...
They better get them vinyl seats so people can wipe down their own area with disinfectant.
fixed !!!!

Nukka who you think is gonna put leather seats in a theater with soda, buttered popcorn fingers and whatever else they gonna spill in there.... haven't your feet stuck to the floor before?

If streaming is going to happen, Imma need that ultra 4k resolution w/ lossless hi-fidelity audio output from Netflix or whoever. I need the home theater to sound and look like I'm at IMAX. Especially for Tenet...

Just release them shits on the net and call it a day
I agree.

Investors want their money, most of the big money is made overseas anyway. Their going to cave soon cause that debt is adding up there losing more than they will gain by holding out.

you might be onto something there. take it back to the old days w/built-in social distancing.

Thurs-sunday at orchard beach they have a free movie playing outside in parking lot... 500 slots per movie... They have some trucks/concession stands.. They started earlier this month and will do it until end of august.. All spots been filled eferytime... They also been doing that in various other parts and in other states.. Some you have to pay... Every place so far has been a success.. I heard Wal-Mart bout to do something with their parking lots... I'm thinking this is gonna have to be the alternative for awhile if these studios gonna want to make money... Drive throughs, than streaming money... The theatre thing gonna have to be put in the backburner
