There are people in NC and Georgia that dont consider Texas the South. Its a bunch of Mexicans out there and is heavily influenced by the West Coast. VA, despite its East Coast influence IS the South. They got crackers, rednecks, and confederates like any other Southern state. Its Southeast just like NC. Texas is Southwest. Alabama, Louisiana, Miss, those are deep south states. Clipse, Neptunes, Missy, Timbo, all got put on in NYC so you right they dont have that traditional "southern" sound, but like most black music creators they are from and have roots in the South. The reality is that most music from Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, etc associated with NY is really Southern Black American music.
The title "Black Lives Matter" isn't about selling the narrative that the don't. It's not about selling the narrative that they matter. It's specifically there to address Black Lives at it pertains to police brutality and vigilantism. This matter this and matter that confusion is the reason these stupid as people chant All Lives Matter. It's not about lives mattering. If ti takes on additional meaning so be it but for right now the focus is on police brutality.
