Nah I from Alabama and I never knew it was called thatI'm guessing the folks that aren't familiar with the term "black national anthem" aren't from the south.

I know a lot of folks from Alabama and trust a lot of them are well versed at the "Black National Anthem" and why it's called that as well a lot of other civil rights related notables, do you think it is wise to throw folks in your state under the bus just cause you learned something new?Just like I said we‘ve heard the song aNd know the words but were never told this is the Black National Anthem. The guys that’s wrote it didn’t put it out as the Black National Anthem

In 1919, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) dubbed it "the Negro national hymn" for its power in voicing a cry for liberation and affirmation for African-American people. You're right. They didn't. They put it out and then black people took it as our own anthem due to how racist The Star Spangled Banner is.
My only irritation is that it is not the black national anthem. It is the NEGRO national anthem. That's the only way we ever referred to it growing up in Houston.
Ignorance is bliss and you must be ecstatic if not knowledgeable . Colonists as you term them didn't give us shit. The song was written by two black brothers at the turn of the century and if you took the time to listen to it rather than just rail against it you might find it worthwhile and uplifting. Insane that you have, and will, stand for the white folks National Anthem that speaks about keeping slaves in their place but you have no use of a song that extols black peoples fight for equality. It's not a black National Anthem that would divide or distract us, it's an ingrained and practiced slave mentality like yours that will. Know your history or at least try to learn it.

I agree, you are correct.Nope because just like you can say you know a lot of folks that knew it was the Black National Anthem I can say I know a lot of people that didn’t. People not knowing A SONG was dubbed by an organization to be their anthem doesn’t meant they know their history so I don’t know where you get that line of thinking from
That bitch ain’t go to no FAMUDidn't you go to an HBCU? FAMU, right?
They didn't play that at all? They played it before EVERY football and basketball game at Winston Salem State.
However, I didn't even know about it until 2002 when I started going to state.
Never knew it was called that.
Doesn't matter anyway, it's another empty gesture to get people to forget how the NFL showed their cracka ass ass crack over the last three seasons with this plantation bullshit.
Might as well play "Slob on My Knob", I always thought that should be the national anthem anyway.
Why not?Why???
If this shit don't make you feel something, your don't
have soul!, no matter the color of your skin!
Why not?
You air out your grievances on a porn board full of dudes who can't do anything about it. You should exercise using your voice and make sure your elected officials hear from you. They represent you whether you voted for them or not.
