I’m sure We’ve all heard the song and know the words but didn’t know it was called the Black National Anthem
I said in another thread that these cacs are going overboard with things as a way of saying “ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!!!!” It’s like a group of white dudes decided on this and didn’t ask anybody black how they felt about it, the NFL isn’t a BLACK ORGANIZATION so what black person is gonna say “Hey NFL I think it would be a good idea if you played the Black National Anthem before games on Week 1”...smh
They are trying to do everything except what needs to be done.

I know a lot of folks from Alabama and trust a lot of them are well versed at the "Black National Anthem" and why it's called that as well a lot of other civil rights related notables, do you think it is wise to throw folks in your state under the bus just cause you learned something new?

You're right. They didn't. They put it out and then black people took it as our own anthem due to how racist The Star Spangled Banner is.
My only irritation is that it is not the black national anthem. It is the NEGRO national anthem. That's the only way we ever referred to it growing up in Houston.
In 1919, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) dubbed it "the Negro national hymn" for its power in voicing a cry for liberation and affirmation for African-American people.

We sang "Lift every voice" for our elementary school graduation and other songs like "Climb every mountain" too , and to this day I can remember older folks calling "Lift every voice" it the "Black National Anthem" so sorry if it seems a little second nature....on reflection I realize white people had no clue of what they were talking about.

The song was written by two black brothers at the turn of the century and if you took the time to listen to it rather than just rail against it you might find it worthwhile and uplifting. Insane that you have, and will, stand for the white folks National Anthem that speaks about keeping slaves in their place but you have no use of a song that extols black peoples fight for equality. It's not a black National Anthem that would divide or distract us, it's an ingrained and practiced slave mentality like yours that will. Know your history or at least try to learn it.

Nope because just like you can say you know a lot of folks that knew it was the Black National Anthem I can say I know a lot of people that didn’t. People not knowing A SONG was dubbed by an organization to be their anthem doesn’t meant they don’t know their history so I don’t know where you get that line of thinking from
