I said in another thread that these cacs are going overboard with things as a way of saying “ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!!!!” It’s like a group of white dudes decided on this and didn’t ask anybody black how they felt about it, the NFL isn’t a BLACK ORGANIZATION so what black person is gonna say “Hey NFL I think it would be a good idea if you played the Black National Anthem before games on Week 1”...smh

min my city they just remained Dudley station to Nubian station. They playing niggaz like suckaz.I don’t wa r to hear it, cut the fucking check.
They are trying to do everything except what needs to be done.

that LAST thing that they want is to pay the so-called black community the money that is owed and we become self-sufficient.

they know they can’t survive without us but there are too many sellouts that are happy with crumbs and empty gestures like this and will give them a pass.

Just like I said we‘ve heard the song aNd know the words but were never told this is the Black National Anthem. The guys that’s wrote it didn’t put it out as the Black National Anthem
I know a lot of folks from Alabama and trust a lot of them are well versed at the "Black National Anthem" and why it's called that as well a lot of other civil rights related notables, do you think it is wise to throw folks in your state under the bus just cause you learned something new?

IJDGAF!

In the next quarter century, this league won’t even exist.

One game...no replace the national anthem with this for every game until the league is defunct.

And while you are at it, make 25% of every position in football operations from position coaches, to head coaches, to the whole front office, Black.

Hell, I don’t watch anyway!

You're right. They didn't. They put it out and then black people took it as our own anthem due to how racist The Star Spangled Banner is.

My only irritation is that it is not the black national anthem. It is the NEGRO national anthem. That's the only way we ever referred to it growing up in Houston.

In 1919, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) dubbed it "the Negro national hymn" for its power in voicing a cry for liberation and affirmation for African-American people.

We sang "Lift every voice" for our elementary school graduation and other songs like "Climb every mountain" too , and to this day I can remember older folks calling "Lift every voice" it the "Black National Anthem" so sorry if it seems a little second nature....on reflection I realize white people had no clue of what they were talking about.

:smh: ... there are some very glaring differences between some of you raised in overt racism states and those us who grew up in overt "liberal" racism" states.

I hope we can make a productive thread to open that discussion cause it to me is a strong additional factor on why we blacks are at odds with each other so, we all experience the same shit but our perspectives need to meet in the middle a whole lot more.

I don’t subscribe to that wailing, we shall overcome, left every voice, woe is me shit.

Show me some real change with black faces in front office, coaching and ownership positions. That’s how you show me what you say is real.

Ignorance is bliss and you must be ecstatic if not knowledgeable . Colonists as you term them didn't give us shit. The song was written by two black brothers at the turn of the century and if you took the time to listen to it rather than just rail against it you might find it worthwhile and uplifting. Insane that you have, and will, stand for the white folks National Anthem that speaks about keeping slaves in their place but you have no use of a song that extols black peoples fight for equality. It's not a black National Anthem that would divide or distract us, it's an ingrained and practiced slave mentality like yours that will. Know your history or at least try to learn it. :hmm:

I just came here to say fuck the NFL but ....the hate against a song that was the rallying cry in the fight for our freedom is sad and disturbing

Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast

We know the owners would never do this by themselves. That stinking bastard godell is behind this. God I hate that slimy motherfucker. He blackballed and allowed Colin's message to get distorted and turned into some unpatriotic bullshit now he's backpedaling like the spineless cunt he is.
The NFL treats the players like it's a plantation and he's behind it.

Nope because just like you can say you know a lot of folks that knew it was the Black National Anthem I can say I know a lot of people that didn’t. People not knowing A SONG was dubbed by an organization to be their anthem doesn’t meant they don’t know their history so I don’t know where you get that line of thinking from

Empty symbolic gester while the team ownership/upper management remains status quo

NFL Meeting: "Uhhh, Bob, let's do what Nascar did. What's that song those whiny 'blacks' like to sing to, again?Lift every slave boat or something? Lift some voices? Whatever. Ha-ha. But yeah, yea, let's do that too. Sara, run the announcement to the media. Let's go, team!!"

Never knew it was called that.

Doesn't matter anyway, it's another empty gesture to get people to forget how the NFL showed their cracka ass ass crack over the last three seasons with this plantation bullshit.

Might as well play "Slob on My Knob", I always thought that should be the national anthem anyway.

Yea I've known about the black National Anthem. I didn't go to a HBCU but my mom did and plus I grew up in the south... But yea you're right, every black person knows "Slob on My Knob" lol that old school 3-6 still gets played today.

But one thing I know about business and working on the higher levels with older white men... it's the old saying "it's not what it is but what it looks like" trust me that's how them motherfuckers think...Shit ain't going to change until we start to get more black billionaires that are not afraid to go against the grain.

Why not?

You air out your grievances on a porn board full of dudes who can't do anything about it. You should exercise using your voice and make sure your elected officials hear from you. They represent you whether you voted for them or not.

Fuck all that. Hire more black coaches and GMs, bring back Kap, and add the BNA in perpetuity at the beginning of every game.

Correct

When all someone does is bitch then that person eventually will be ignored because people know that they are all bark and no bite. There's been a whole lotta bitchin on this thread by dudes who I bet have kept watching NFL football this whole time despite all the f'ed up stuff the owners do.

Id rather Kaep have a job, guarantee contracts for at least 3 years, hire 50% Black coaches and take the Washington team from Snyder and create a Black ownership made up of many like the Packers model, with 10% profits targeted for Black Pre- K to 5th grade schools.

One song won't fix oppressive structural problems.
