That shit was great....

I hear you bruh, but there are some people that only eat vegetables on hamburgers. That is Dave's personality and i have to respect it....I have no problem with that, I do have an issue with him referring to George that. It would've been much more powerful if he used the word "Brother" or "Brotha" when mentioning George.
IMO
Dave’s level of IDGAF is legendary. He’s become Carlin-esqe
That wasn’t comedy ...it was Dave channeling the feelings of black men in America
“Any of you n^**gas that can survive this nightmare ...is my hero”
He is brilliant but he's just got to stop calling Black men n*****. He's so in tune with other things it amazes me how he can't see how detrimental that is. But then again there are millions more like him, unfortunately.
Now I'll wait for the predictable n***** responses from the ignoramuses on this forum.
I have to agree. Every time and for whatever reason comedic or otherwise a black person utters the word nigga or nigg*r what would be lost if the word "brother" was said instead? Just don't understand why the word nigga is viewed by many as a term of endearment or harmless identification. I understand saying "nigga" is an ingrained habit, and I've been as guilty as anyone, but it's a negative habit and the word is a pejorative that should be eliminated from our speech as much as possible, or at least attempted imo.![]()
Imagine watching 30 minutes of genius from a national treasure giving social commentary as the world burns.. And your biggest take away is on his use of nigga.I agree with you. The people who use the word do so out of ignorance. Anyone who thinks they "took the word back" is just deluding themselves. They are ignorant of the fact that the underlying programming is coming from white people. The same way the ridiculous "street culture" was invented and fomented by whites. It's all in the aid of advancing our self-destruction. If it's not, please tell me how calling each other n***** is helpful?
They cut this down to 30 minutes. Pretty sure there is a lot they left off. Hopefully this is released in full on Netflix. This was the best unfunny standup I've ever seen. 10 out of 10. I just wish he went in deeper about Dorner.
Don Lemon's response....

99% positivity will not be destroyed by 1% negativity in this particular case.
Fam, the last line of this special was what got muy attention..Imagine watching 30 minutes of genius from a national treasure giving social commentary as the world burns.. And your biggest take away is on his use of nigga.
now would Kevin Hart be this brave??
doubt he even has the chops to pull this off. Dave is both funny & compelling , Hart is neither
Don Lemon's response....
I never said you was the 1%.I’m not the 1% nor am I negative, I simply stated that it would’ve been more powerful if he used the word “Brother”.
Imagine watching 30 minutes of genius from a national treasure giving social commentary as the world burns.. And your biggest take away is on his use of nigga.
....Candace Owens previously praised him...
Dick Gregory or Paul Mooney?Listening to this again....
I see Chappelle picking up where Dick Gregory left off. Transcending comedy and merging it with social commentary.
Funny as in haha funny or funny as in thats fucking funny? I think George Carlin is the funniest. But you guys know I’m a miserable SOB. If Dave gives me another 10 years of gold, he will take the spot. His 20 minutes on Killing ... Softly is not haha funny but this is absurd funny.I get it, but I don't even think that matters. He's simply not as funny as Dave.
For you to imply that Dave usage of nigga and those who find no issue with it is illustration of a lack of self pride is inaccurate and idiotic. Again, to view that body of work (let alone his resume) and make that statement is patently stupid. If that word causes you that level of insecurity then its probably something inside you that needs fixing.Merely suggested the use of an alternate positive word like "brother" would have been better received by those possessing a measure of pride in themselves and the race. For you to say that was my biggest take away from Chappelle's brilliant commentary couldn't be more inaccurate.![]()

It's supposed to be harsh. That grinding feeling you're experiencing is 450+ of oppression grinding in the back of your skull and stirring the pit of your soul. Use it. We ain't nowhere near over, yet.
I agree with the 450+ years of oppression, but how does referring to ourselves in negative terms help alleviate that? Seems to me just calling each other brother, bruh, or bro is more of a positive respectful identification than nigga.![]()

Maybe his frequent use of the word is on purpose because he uses it to describe EVERYBODY black white or other..maybe he'll explain it at some point. But I feel you can't fight for liberation or claim liberation from a thing if you're still using the terminology and definitions of the tools of your oppression.
We have embraced the term ****** (nigga, nig, etc) waay to much and too easily while at the same time trying to defeat the shackles of white supremacy. the fact that the actual term is automatically redacted while the slang forms aren't, tells you everything you need to know about how contradictory it is.
Obamas presidency and seeing all his white "friend's" go full stormfront gave him the wake up call he needed.Ever since Lemon got attacked for his dumb ass marijuana comment he’s changed and for the better. I have no problems with Lemon , he’s been doing great work as of late.
Man you a got dam fool if you think the presence or absence of "nigga" is gonna lead to or hinder our liberation one way or another.Maybe his frequent use of the word is on purpose because he uses it to describe EVERYBODY black white or other..maybe he'll explain it at some point. Glad you find "comfort" in being part of a misdirected collective.Opinions vary and you're entitled to yours. If you have no problem with the gratuitous use of the word that is your prerogative. It's a comfort though that so many who have commented on this subject agree with me. Guess something inside them needs fixing too.![]()
If there's one thing about Dave Chappelle that I have observed is that he is a TRUE artist at what he does. Meaning he understands every point of the thing he's creating and understands WHY he's doing what he's doing even as it looks random or off the cuff to us. If Dave were a musician he'd be Jimi Hendrix or Dizzy Gillespie during the Bebop era. To listen to Jimi's psychedelic rock or Diz's bebop to the passing listener it can sound like random riffing or even noise. But to people who have any understanding of the music they know they're listening to a VERY COMPLEX WELL THOUGHT OUT measure of music...where what sounds random is PURPOSEFULLY done that way. Feedback, dissonance, "wrong notes" Yes it may sound like noise but its noise put here ON PURPOSE.Well said...![]()
yes changing the way you think about something can change the way you deal with it. Do you think youre a ****** or a nigga..whats the difference?Man you a got dam fool if you think the presence or absence of "nigga" is gonna lead to or hinder our liberation one way or another.
And Dope tooThis was Dipe.
