Wrong, Mayweather has fought nobody like Jones while Jones has fought and beaten two Hall Of Fame defensive fighters in Hopkins and Toney.Such a unique talent.
FM would eventually adapt after 4-5 rounds to the speed and style of RJJ and ultimate win the victory via the scorecard.
Zab was quick like Jones though. Not as quick though.Wrong, Mayweather has fought nobody like Jones while Jones has fought and beaten two Hall Of Fame defensive fighters in Hopkins and Toney.

It's not like Hopkins was in his prime.Wrong, Mayweather has fought nobody like Jones while Jones has fought and beaten two Hall Of Fame defensive fighters in Hopkins and Toney.

Huh?? they fought in '93 both came on the scene around '88... B-Hop was a title holder when RJJ took it from him.... how much more Prime can he get? ...IJSIt's not like Hopkins was in his prime.

Glen Johnson. But Glen also beat Tarver, if that's who you are referring to.And then shortly after a lesser fighter than Tarver put him on the mat

Thats because he says Roy had been avoiding him for a long time....Yea I think so. Didn’t know he beat Tarver. Tarver seemed like he had a personal beef with Roy. Called him out in the ring prior to the bell ringing. “Do you have any excuses tonight Roy!?” With the microphone on.
In Jones' prime, his defense was better than Floyd's IMO. He went for YEARS without losing rounds and had stretches of fights without getting hit flush at all. Floyd in his prime had great defense but still got touched way too much by limited guys like Corley and Emmanuel Augustus. Floyd was great but it's hard to pick anyone against a prime RJJ unless you go to the heavyweights.
nah....
i would say RJJ didnt have much defense at all....his defense was how much faster he was than everyone else....once that was gone...it was a wrap
to me...FM's defense got better the older he got and lost a step....
RJJ was just a hell of an athlete...
Such a unique talent.

Mosley, Pacquiao, and Alvarez are three shoo-in HOF punchers. Granted Pac is not exactly like Roy, but he had (still has) plenty of hand & foot speed, awkward punch angles, and crazy power. If Hopkins in your opinion compares to Floyd, then Pac fits too.
Don't know why y'all shit on Floyd when the fighters he fought give him the utmost respect.
That's a opinion I'm not mad at.Nah Floyd’s a beast! But offensively, Roy was more beastly!
That's a opinion I'm not mad at.
Floyd was nice too!
I think unfortunately some of us are remembering Floyd when he was older which is making us forget his years when he truly attacked!

Floyd said Mosley hit him the hardest.... an on the decline Mosley. A in his prime RJJ even at catch weight might've given Floyd his first KO, he definitely would have dropped him.
Floyd never fought those guys when they were in their primes and close to touching RJJ's greatness.
Toney is one of the forefathers of Floyd's defense... Roy beat him and scored the second and last knockdown of toneys career.

RJJ would not have gotten as far as he did by being "just a hell of an athlete". Just like Michael Jordan, a high level of skill was combined with great athletic ability. You can't just have great athletic ability with no skills and become a legend in a sport. One more example, Yuriorkis Gamboa was probably just as physically gifted as RJJ but without the technique and they had very different careers.
Also, my definition of defense is basically "not getting hit". If RJJ barely got hit while winning world titles for over ten years, he had GREAT defense. Some guys use a cross arm defense, some guys use their legs, some guys shoulder roll, some guys like to duck and parry. It's all defense with a common objective of not getting hit.
If you don't get hit, you have great defense, period.
I was going to say the same shit.Wrong, Mayweather has fought nobody like Jones while Jones has fought and beaten two Hall Of Fame defensive fighters in Hopkins and Toney.
