Anthony Davis is the lynchpin.
When he goes to the bench its just not smart to sub in Howard. He can't rotate fast enough on the perimeter or handle the guards off the dribble. So almost by default he's eliminated. Then you eventually will move AD to the 5 because McGee is another Howard and what you gain in rebounding doesn't offset what you'll lose in offense playing us. Their size eliminates itself if the rockets shoot the long ball well... and at that point it's on the rockets to make shots... you spread the floor and russ has nothing clogging up the middle as he attacks the rim... and the rockets have shooters galore... Rivers, McLemore, Gordon, Harden, Covington, Tucker, Clemons, House is streaky but can hit them...
I'm not necessarily a fan of this but long story short the rockets are a matchup nightmare that most teams will have trouble with
Howard didnt hardly play in the 2nd half. Thats on Vogel. Bron's shot wasnt falling tonight so he was dishing, but late they needed another player shooting them 3s instead of him. Covington is a nice addition to the Rockets. He gives them that 3-D guy they lost when Ariza bounced.
Either way, good win tonight and this will temporarily shut up the small ball haters...

this rockets small ball will look good and be fun to watch in the regular season for the most part. it'll be interesting to see do they(harden) fizzle out once again in the playoffs from being tired from shooting all those jumpers. and rebounds will be key. lakers presented a great matchup for them as their big men got exposed. denver and the clippers should negate this with their depth.
Napier has been having a decent season this year.
Teague is garbage compared to a good point guard that's why he keeps bouncing around let's not do that.
You wouldn't put him in the top 15 of point guards
and Steph COULD be a traditional one if needed but because of how he affects the floor he does his job with and without the ball
