Why are there so many black men who really don't get "it"?!? This movie is nothing more than bait! White folks produce crap like this to play us!
That sister and the brother are sell-outs. Pay attention to their movie roles!

Unfortunately not all blacks understand "race" and "propaganda" in this country. Ironically, that is EXACTLY who Hollywood wants in front of the camera.

This was the 1st part of the movie that really gave me pause. I even told my girl it was some bullshit. It was out of place and some lazy ass writing, or was it intentional? Either way this is where the movie lost some credibility.

They could be paid operatives... :dunno:

Life imitating art is a powerful analogy when looking at black life and the way artists/puppets have had their strings pulled and in turn pulled the strings of black youth.

Just saw it tonight. Chick and I disagreed on it. I hated the female character off rip. She was straight ass from the eggs to the end. She was mouthy, unappreciative, and every stereotype that affects black women. The chick I saw it with said it’s from what she came been through. But to me, the nigga just wanted to eat his eggs. He just liked her. She was just an ass. She got em in that shit. SHE antagonized the cop, she disobeyed every order from Slim and the cop. She was mouthy with the mechanic, on and on. Too many see her as a ride or die or a strong independent woman but she is the antithesis of what black men refer to when not dating a type of black woman. I liked the movie, though predictable. Only surprise was the double-cross.

I saw it,it was ok,I can see why some wouldn't like it because certain parts just wasn't outside of the stereotypical black characters but I did like the ending, they made a choice and stuck with it.She did a good job at playing some of what we are seeing from black females but in america's eyes it didn't matter....

Those idiots are only doing that to get traffic to their little twitters. I clicked on a few of them twitter pages and they're dry as fuck. Anything to get clout. When are all the naysayers going to product something? It literally takes no money to create some type of film. Can easily upload on youtube and market it for free on twitter. Thats the problem with us. We talk down on too much and not enough action. One of the twitter folks posted about white people laughing at the film. That was one of the points in the movie by the Brother. Stop trying to be extra and the best in they eyes and just be you. My buddy said that a long time ago. Stop thinking about what white people think. Live for you.

Everything you said

Shit didn't make any sense really.

She was a lawyer. But displayed no lawyer skills. If anything she made the situation more volatile. It's like they just wanted to display the educated black woman, but then displayed the stereotype of the angry and mouth black woman. As if it balances out.

But you can understand why she had an attitude, he took her to a Waffle House type joint. Then said it was black owned. I would question it also. But what would you expect when dude had a 20 year old Honda.

But the diss about him looking sad...now that was low.

Why accept a date from a dude with an old Honda Accord that works at Costco if you expect more than a black owned joint? Her character was just straight ass. Dude was humble and trying to show interest. He worked with what he had. Bitch didn’t have to show up at all.

you missed the whole point. Dude had a paid for car , supported Black business, and understood the Importance or family. While on the other hand she was so busy being extraordinary for them people being a lawyer she had nothing. She was clueless about a Black restaurant in her town, didn’t know how to interact in Black American situations and had a fucked up family situation. Moms dead and killed by the pimp Brother. Her attitude came from trying to appease white america while in doing so she lost who she was.

I know the point, the point was stupid.

and you're looking way too deeply in to this movie and projecting your own feelings

I had an issue with Harriet...I think some of the outrage against Queen and Slim is over the top...that being said Rotten Tomatoes lost all credibility after Dave Chappelle's last special and the fuckery they tried to pull

Nope you're just to simple and feel that Blacks can't have cinema that makes you think. I'm glad we are away from Menace to Society type bullshit ass movies. If niggas was slanging crack shooting at each other no one would have a problem.

When you're calling someone simple, you might want to learn when to use to and too. It makes you look like less of a moron.

Now that I've had a day to reflect, there were a few WTF moments in this movie. In particular,
the whole giving the convenience store clerk your loaded gun for gas. I mean what the fuck is he thinking?!?! At least eject the mag and clear the chamber. Guess it was to reiterate that Slim wasn't a criminal, just an average dude
.

folks hype all kinda debasing ass hiphop artist and records, "classic movies" etc "ghetto gagger type porn and give all kinds of passes to so much bs but a movie with a not perfect blackpanther type script is the work of the devil.. :dunno:

SPOILERS:

It didn’t have to end like that.

I thought it might have taken a different turn with her character being a lawyer. But nothing was made of it.

The kid shooting the cop (a black cop at that) :hmm: Unbelievable

This movie had potential to be something else something better something bigger and dropped the ball. We’ve seen the Bonnie and Clyde Thelma & Louise ending a thousand times. Tired trope.

Visually and cinematically the movie was done well. I still enjoyed the movie but it failed to capitalize on a big issue with how law enforcement deals with black people in this country.

all around good points , every movie aint gotta be "Moses on the mountaintop sermon moving the red sea 100% all the fucking time !
and thats all i ask folks to be honest about, yes it can always be better , we all can always be better but sometimes good enough aint necessarily the enemy of the perfect , its just good enuff, ...until folks are really ready for all out revolution, folks need to just shut it and be honest, they want to be outraged to make a point by nitpicking at bs that aint really the meat of their issues.. .
....when will Tariq & his ilk put out a picture perfect fiction movie that will hit on all cylinders and be backed by big hollywood money ? i await his cinematic landscape changing feature film... oh wait we need another gofundme for his film to fight WS

The subject matter was used as a cheap lure to grab the audiences attention but had no plans to develop the story beyond it just being a plot device that moves the characters forward through the story.

Most people feel like if your gonna use the crucial subject matter of police killing unarmed black people then you should add some substance behind your portrayal on film.

Every movie doesn’t have to sermonize but if your gonna deal with such real and sensitive subject matter do it justice (pun intended) do it well.

Here it just served as a plot device for a dysfunctional love story. And while the movie is well made I can tell much was done to appease some white audiences (who will probably never watch the movie and dislike it anyway because a cop was killed “the white one”) and neutered the film of any radical elements of it had any to begin with.

The movie wants to be a tragic love story and it used crucial subject to get people emotional about the characters. It didn’t work for me but I still enjoyed the movie even tho I was extremely disappointed at it.

same page different takes. yes its very ambitious on many levels and doesnt quite hit it out the park on some of them , but ,yes we are in treacherous times so every opportunity to raise awareness is to be taken, im just saying i wouldnt totally give the whole movie a negative becos it didnt fully do what i desire it to do on a social justice level, this is hollywood , not NBP movie department, funded by crakaz in a mostly cracka run indutsry , ive come to learn, not to expect much from them, so im never disaapointed but also when ure deeply involved in raising our people's plight on a personal level, u dont feel its all lost becos of ur own personal work in furthering black folks condition, i always take away what i can and see the best in that , Its like folks downed obama becos he wasnt malcolm x part 2, i know how to tamper my expectation when dealing with crackas, ive always been a do-for-self-er

Son, the first 3 seconds of the movie I looked over at the chick I was with like WTF is her problem? I thought the movie started and we missed it. The best part is Queen looked a hot a damn mess .....until she took that weave out. Then she was fine as wine! The chick said “Now I see what you mean”. Hopefully more black women will realize that weave shit ruins their beauty. The nasty attitude was offputtimg and I feel escalated the entire thing. They made her the “don’t know when to STFU” black chick that men smash but won’t cuff. Dude, to me, was calm and level headed through it all.
