HBO Series: Watchmen (2019) (drops 10/20/19) Thread

I don't know what the fuck is going on with this series, but the soundtrack - even the Country & Western - is fire.
the shit they did with careless whisper was a fucking breathtaking couple of pieces of scoring.
Episode was a 20

interesting thought that it is the earth's moon. but the problem i have with that is why was a red planet simulating mars appearing so close to that particular moon.
Jupiter is too close to be our moon
don't get me started.

i do not understand the context of that scene.
Hooded justice was a fruity white cat in the comic

That's one of the reasons why will reeves being Hooded justice hasn't made sense to me as a theory

Can’t wait for the next episode! Finally get some answers about Will Reeves, but the more answers we get, then the more questions we have. That’s what I like about it. Just like Westworld. Nothing is straight forward. Looking Glass if he survives the 7th Cavalry raid on his crib has to explain to Sista Knight why he turned her in. Although we know he did it because he wanted answers which was selfish on his part, but he did it to save her family. That’s his saving grace when he finally tells her why.

So, Veidt is on Mars? Or was that some other planet? I couldn’t tell.

*Any potential spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet are concealed/masked.
I can't wait for next episode to see Will's memories. I like Laurie's wit...that wench of full of guile. That looked like one of Jupiter's moons that Veidt is on and he MUST know where he is. That's why he's hurled all of those bodies out there to make a signal that was visible to that satellite (Lady Trieu's?).
Now, as far as Looking Glass:

I could see the setup unfolding from the time the woman walked in the door. She used textbook espionage tactics to gain his trust, have him put his guard down while he's drinking, and lure him in with seduction. All it took was that one line to throw him off...just mention wanting to fuck. LG was like 0..o!
She'd initially expressed disinterest in coming to the Tuesday meeting until she got him heated and then reversed her decision to keep his interest/curiosity piqued. I didn't see the lettuce trick coming and them intercepting his radio signal the way they did.

Now that Keane has let him in on the truth, he can shed the tin-foil lined caps, but he's gotta maintain the mask even though he knows the truth now, but Keane is a politician who can't afford to have any loose ends. He used LG to buy time before SK and Laurie caught on to his trail. He's sent the Goons to do away with LG. Too bad he didn't go into the bunker first.

I struggled for adjectives once I realised what it was. I was like, I know those words, I know that melody, wait, "Careless Whisper"? OMG Breathtaking fits!

Ninja...did you like it or is it because it was an earworm from Time-Life TV commercials? :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Do you mean the movie as a Western musical? :puzzled::giggle:

I KNOW the words and watched the movies on Sundays on PBS..

Yeah and WHAT?!?!

and every single solitary time someone says Oklahoma till THIS day I sing that damn song.

and in 5th grade I had to sing O what a beautiful morning.

yeah I said it.

Same here...except for having to sing it in school. Oklahoma was always on back in the days of the Big Three and PBS.

:smh:

movie lacks almost all of the world building and history / context in the graphic novel thats being carried into the show...
eg: ep2 meta story about Hooded Justice means nothing to those that only saw the movie
Man I'm just now seeing this

I was unclear. I didn't mean that the movie told the entire story of the comic, I meant that everything in the movie was faithful to the comic besides the switching out of the squid for the Dr M blast.

They shouldn't have done that imo.

The screwed version just for that scene worked so fucking well. I can only imagine the level of self satisfaction that came with that moment in the scoring department

The acoustic take on it was fire as fuck too

I knew senator was it. Only because he was in too many instances that were too perfect.

Poor Wade had to sell out his friend. It was that or the family gets killed.

I'm tripping off of the moving parts ozy is an evil genuis to get his plant into office and alter history in multiple ways

I enjoyed the pieces being put together with Wade and next week with Grandpa

The deliberate nature of the show is captivating

In all seriousness?

If all these ados folk dissing haitians and immigrants and backing trump would all be thrown out?

And yall hired hbo and the creators of this show to market the reparations reform on your behalf?

You'd get the biggest voter turn out in support since obama first election.

Cause i am so EXTRA hyped for all my brothers and sisters to get down with this.

You have a point, but now that you're getting caught up, you can get around to the butthurt CACs channels on YT at some point and take a pulse.
Most of them have based a lot of reaction to Ep 1 only though.

Man I'm rewatching this last ep

The scene when Wade was talking to his ex at the lab and she delivers the line abt trying to convince him for 7 years, then the quick flashback to the fun house scene, him having the bad luck revelation out loud, the timing of that acoustic careless whisper

Nigga

That was some ill ass filmmaking.

When I first saw watchmen I had no problem with it because I never read the comic a to be honest if they added the giant squid I would've been confused. I know they left out a lot of detail from the comic but he source material has a lot of content and they had to condense it. I don't know why people get upset. They always change details around when they bring comics to the big screen. I think they do this to make comic films appeal to the general audience and not just the readers. That's why MCU movies are so successful.
