The white candidates usually put forth general policies that affect everyone. Obama basically did the same. He didn't pander to black voters then screw them over. He kept it 100 percent post-racial. That's why he had so much white support.

SOME of his supporters were the ones running around putting words in his mouth. Like when they said he was playing chess for a second term so he could start going all Malcolm X while in office. Obama himself never made any promises.

There's a big problem when talking about Obama. If you criticize him, his diehard supporters go into full attack mode. Then shit devolves into name calling and no real discussion.
