I just believe there are levels to this shit.
If it's my closest friend AND he is dating a chick I spent years with (even had a baby with her), then that's a clear break of homie code.
If it's my closest friend and AND he is dating a chick I had a short stint with or a fling, then I wouldn't sweat it, BUT it's still a break in the homie code.
Now if it's some small town shit, then that's a totally different thing as chicks come in limited quantity.
