New Music: Conway x Eminem - BANG UPDATE: Leaked verse disses Joe, Diddy & REVOLT

Damn I forget Em made his debut 20 years ago man, times flies like a mug.
Dude is probably going to be making a song about his grandkid within five years...

"Used to dream one day I'd be fuckin' Pink
Like a flamingo
That was back when I smoked Canibus
Man but it was tough
Because I was a fan of his
So it sucked to hand him his
ass..."

It's crazy how Eminem can't or won't let go of subject matter from his early days. From "Detroit vs. Everybody" to this song, he's the only person in the world still talking about Lorena Bobbitt.

Even the last reference he made, which was the freshest, seemed dated, with the closing shot at Charlemagne. He can't really still be mad that Charlemagne dissed Revival, can he? It seems like that's just another entry in his rhyme book to run into the ground. (Though I admit "charred remains of Charlemagne" is a really good line.)

As long as he's alive and in good health, Eminem will still be able to outrap and outflow 99% of rappers. But what does he have left to say?

From the initial references to Pink and Canibus to the close, that verse reminds me of a line from one of the first salvos from Canibus in the greatest battle that never happened, when Canibus first said he was coming "'round the outside, 'round the outside, 'round the outside":

"Old school rappers I wouldn't be around without
Ain't got shit to say but keep puttin' albums out"

Em never lost it if u ask me. Yes, u like some of his older stuff more than the newer stuff, but alot of that has to do with the listeners expectation that Em is gonna suddenly revert back to his former "Marshall Matthers cd" self. This track BANGS.

I hate that Em did my boy Conway like that. I got that Alonzo Mourning face now

Well Em still can kill a verse at 40 :eek2:

Yeah he was spittin

Now that you mention it Em was referring to some old shit, very weird to say the least. That HAD to have been an old rhyme, very weird to say the least.

Em definitely still go it. I think rap fans are fickle and move on from the artist once the artist gets older. Like them the fans aren’t.

Some rappers do lose it but I think the fans move on before the rappers lose skill.

Eminem didn't start talking about Charlemagne until his most recent album, which came out in August 2018, in response to Charlemagne's criticism of his 2017 album. So this is almost definitely in the past 12 months (and it sounds like his most recent style).

I think it is more that he became a nostalgia rapper with 2013's Marshall Mathers LP 2.

For example:

My apologies, no disrespect to technology
But what the heck is all of these buttons?
You expect me to sit here and learn that?
Fuck I gotta do to hear this new song from Luda?
Be an expert at computers?
I'd rather be an encyclopedia Britannica, hell with a Playstation
I'm still on my first manual from Zelda
Nintendo, bitch, run, jump, punch, stab and I melt the
Mozzarella on my spaghetti, put in on bread
Make a sandwich with welch's and belch
They say this spray butter is bad for my health, but
I think this poor white trash from the trailer
Jed Clampett, Redd Sanford welfare mentality helps to
Keep me grounded, that's why I never take full advantage of wealth, I
Managed to dwell within these parameters
Still cramming the shelves full of hamburger helper
I can't even help it, this is the hand I was dealt, a
Creature of habit, feel like I'm trapped in an animal shelter
With all these pet peeves
God dammit to hell, I can't stand all these kids with their camera cellphones
I can't go anywhere, I get so mad I can yell, the

Other day someone got little elaborate and stuck a fucking dead cat in my mailbox
Went to Burger King, they spit on my onion rings
I think my karma is catching up with me

On that album, he doubled down on living in the past and he still seems to be there six years later. I thought it was a phase, not a permanent transition... He plays with new rap trends but, in terms of substance, he wants to live in the 20th century.

I recently watched Eddie Murphy on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. As he and Seinfeld talked about the old glory days of comedy, almost all of his impressions were 80s/90s era figures like Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson or Prince. (He did have a nice Chappelle imitation.) He talked about how much he loved to stay home and do nothing-- literally nothing-- and totally disconnect from society. I think Eminem is the same way and it's a limitation to live as an isolated relic and still try to be an active rapper.

[Intro: Conway the Machine]
Yeah (Brr), uh
(Brr, brr, brr)
(Brr, brr, brr)
Machine
(Brr)
It's not a game, nigga (Brr, brr)
It's not a fuckin' game, nigga (Brr, brr, brr)
Look, look

[Verse 1: Conway the Machine]
Ayo, I use the Arm & Hammer just to fluff my brick
Say what I wanna say and I don't give a fuck, I'm rich (Ahh)
Tuck my fifth, don't hesitate to bust my shit
I tell you niggas like Kyrie, "Suck my dick" (Hahahaha)
I don't trust a soul, I don't even trust my bitch (Uh-uh)
Before I fall in love, I'd rather cut my wrist (Ahh)
I sweat Ace of Spades, nigga, that's how much I sip
Body a rap nigga quick before the Dutch got twist
(Ayo, let's roll somethin')
Yeah, the shotty ring, this shit is not a thing (Uh-huh)
The chopper make your body lean, my niggas body things (Brr)
Uh, I'm with the jackboys, I'm with the robbin' team (Uh-huh)
On my mama, I never rocked a pair of Robin jeans (Hahahaha)
Everything I jot is mean, how you gon' stop Machine?
My name, it probably ring like Las Vegas slot machines
The MAC by my pelvis in my Helmut Lang (Uh-huh)
The shells'll bang, make everything outta your helmet hang
Uh, the mayo jar was Hellmann's when I swirled the 'caine
Then I wrapped the yayo up in cellophane (Woo)
My shooter got Dame Lillard from the elbow aim
I thought of that while I was courtside at the Melo game (Ahh)
Bricks are off-white, I imported some (Uh-huh)
Whippin' all night until the mornin' come (All night, nigga)
Still pitchin' long nights until my fortune come
That's big checks on the side like the Off-White Jordan 1s, ugh!

[Chorus: Conway the Machine]
Ayo, they think this shit a game, nigga (This shit a game, nigga)
Ayo, they think this shit a game (This shit a game, oh word?)
Ayo, they think this shit a game
Until I pull up, let it ring (Let it ring)
Until I pull up, let it ring (Let it ring)
Until I pull up, let it ring
Ayo, they think this shit a game, nigga (This shit a game, nigga)
Ayo, they think this shit a game (This shit a game, huh?)
Ayo, they think this shit a game
Until I pull up, let it bang, nigga (Let it bang, nigga)
Until I pull up, let it bang (Let it bang)
Until I pull up, let it–

[Verse 2: Eminem]
I used to be a man of the people
Hit the clubs and mingle (What up?)
Used to dream one day I'd be fuckin' pink like a flamingo (Pink)
That was back when I smoked Canibus
Man, but it was tough, 'cause I was a fan of his
So it sucked to hand him his ass, but
Yeah, lookin' back on my feuds
How me and Ja Rule almost got cool
'Cause we shot pool back in '01
Was it '02? I don't know, but
Something told me fuckin' not to
Then we got stuck in high school, I shoved an Oscar up his wazoo
Yeah, but I think of the rappers I slayed and buried like every night
And every career I might've killed, sometimes I say a prayer and I
Wonder is there a heaven for a G? And if so, is the sanctuary nice?
Studios for rap like Coolio, shootin' craps at gangster's paradise
Huh, here a mic, there a mic
Everywhere a mic, share and share alike
But just don't compare alike
Instead of comparin' me, pick a fair fight
Compare me to lightnin', that similarity's strikin'
Compare me to Jaws
Compare me to Manson, Marilyn or Charles
Compare me to Nas, Biggie, or Pac
Do not compare me to that Iggy bitch
Or all this fuckin' Milli Vanilli hip-hop
This is where all that silly shit stops
Compare me to the pistol that triggered this thought
The semi, the Glock, 9 millis get cocked, I'm sending a shot
Don't come around with them floss raps tryna stunt
Compare me to Meek, big wheelies get popped
One by one, compare 'em to scabs, I'm picking them off
They're going home to fuck Nicki Minaj, aw
Compare me to Diggity-Das, yah
I'm hickity-hitting it raw, ha
In the trailer park (Haha)
Told her I'd play the part like Kanan Stark's
Ate her twat like a Tater Tot, oh shit
Get the strap like a trainin' bra
Lunchtime like at eight-o'clock
But Shady's not for the faint of heart
Goin' at these pricks like Lorena Bobbitt
Y'all want drama, we can make a scary movie like Marlon Wayans
Y'all lookin' at the charred remains of Charlamagne tha God
Slim whip, Westside, and Conway are not playin'
I cock back, aim, and I spray ya like (Bang)

Look its Em...

it aint BAD

but I was a llittle surprised he didn't try to body the SAME beat and show that he CAN...

I feel like the beat change wasn't a CHALLENGE

but more of a crutch

this is not like when Kendrick does it.

Em rapped on a beat that Em CAN rap on

and Eminem can rap on ANYTHING..

So if you WITH Griselda?

DO Griselda.

again it was NOT wack

ESPECIALLY as he picked p steam..

he was KILLING it.

But I do NOT think that was FIRE.

@therealjondoe I need an MC's opinion on this one.

I’ve gotta agree with Lord Jamar.. all that weird shit Em was talking about didn’t help the song
I Really didn’t like the Conway part either..but that shit put the nail in the coffin

The beat may have been made like that.
He did hijack the shit though

I'm saying...

that beat change aint no coincidence?

They KNEW that was Eminem lane...

I aint mad I'm just saying...

and I understand it is almost a hip hop tradition at this point to do that.

Winter wars, Drug Dealers Anonymous, Monster, Beast from the East, How High original version, etc etc

But it was NOT Em best since the Kamikaze resurgence, but it was good.

Honestly I think this ALL started with Cappadonna Winter Warz...

real talk?

Aint MANY done BETTER then Cap till this day
