**Official NBA Offseason... Big Names switch teams, Kawhi/P13 to LAC...wtf Westbrook and CP3 traded

Would be a fool to accept it

Nah man take the cash, sign the contract, then demand a trade like Paul George. Fuck leaving millions on the table. Not everyone plays every game, for 16 years like LeBron. Injuries do happen, and fuck playing for a shitty franchise in your prime years, waiting for John Wall.

Paul George only got that because OKC was looking to retool as a whole. Demanding and receiving a trade is not the norm

So turn down $111 mill in hopes of getting a similar deal in 2 years from a team with no state tax? You the fool.

Depending on his All Star/All NBA appearances over the next two seasons, he could see the same contract Kyrie Irving received (4/142) on a better team. With additional bonuses for personal accolades and team wins/playoff series appearances, he could recoup the millions he left on the table from turning down the extension

3/$111 today >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4/$142 possibly in two years

I dont know what you do for a living but i pray its never being someones financial advisor.

Landscape changed
Cats betting on themselves
Wall/Beal combo hasn't worked
Beal ain't dealing with Wall for another four seasons
Durant/Porzingis getting max deals after their major injury shows teams aren't afraid to spend money post injury

Shitty organization. Could make the same money if he goes to a team with no state income tax (Texas/Florida)

Not worth it.

Shit can change in two years.

Cousins was making 18 mil a year in 2017, probably could've got more. Took a one year, 5 mil deal and left money on the table to ring chase on the Warriors, got injured, didn't get a ring. Wasn't even a market for him this summer. Only the Heat were considering him because they moved Whiteside. Now he on the Lakers getting paid like 3 million.

Two years.

Isaiah Thomas was trying to get the Celtics to give him a max. He got injured and traded into a bad situation, now he fighting to stay in the league.

Would want to stay at a job that you despise for a little bit more money or seek something new?

Thats a myth fellas.

Name all these guys that are turning down max extensions and "betting on themselves".

None of those dudes are playing with John Wall tho. I think their cool but their games didn't mesh.

Durant left a max because him and Westbrook don't work

No, turn down the deal

No John Wall for a season means you might can sneak on the third team all NBA like Kemba and get a super max

AD left money, so did KL.
So two niggas (that are top 5) out of 400 players... Thats all you got?

Exactly my point.

And KD makes about $80 million a year (nobody other than Lebron makes more) , and AD will still get his supermax next summer. KL will be eligible for 10 year vet supermax in two seasons.

So again who are all these people giving up money???

So turn down $37/per today to POTENTIALLY get $42/per in 3 years? On what planet does that make sense?

As the cap rises, so does the amount a player gets. So even if he doesn't get the supermax, with the cap being at 117 mil, his 30 percent max contract would have him starting at 35 mil per with a 8 percent increase per season which equals:

35+37+39=111

Now knowing this, why would he stay in DC?

What is a
Max Contract in the NBA?
Any player who’s given a max contract will see the size of it depend on the number of seasons they’ve played, as the value increases after a set amount of time. As Hoops Hype’s Frank Urbina explained, the increases jump from 25, 30 and 35 percent of the salary cap.

  • Players with 0-6 years of experience can earn a max contract worth 25 percent of the salary cap
  • Players with 7-9 years of experience can earn a max contract worth 30 percent of the salary cap
  • Players with 10-plus years of experience can earn a max contract worth 35 percent of the salary cap

Because it isnt about staying in DC... Its about getting guaranteed money as soon as possible.. Money today>>> potential money tomorrow. Especially for a borderline all star without a big sneaker deal.

Beal ain't borderline and the money will the same even if he goes to a new team especially for a 28 year old multi all star square in his prime..

Getting paid while playing for a contender>>> getting paid to play with Wall for another four years

And nobody is taking Wall. So he’d just be stuck in a situtation that ain’t going to change.
