After Endgame, the future of Marvel Studios' Thor franchise looked uncertain; Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder had relinquished his rule of New Asgard and departed for adventures new with the Guardians of the Galaxy. But fear not; director Taika Waititi has just confirmed that Marvel's next phase will still include Thor, just never as we've seen the character on-screen before.

During a panel at San Diego Comic Con, Natalie Portman appeared on stage, announcing her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jane Foster, and revealing that she will be taking on the mantle of Thor in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder. Echoing a 2014 storyline from the source comics, Love and Thunder will follow Jane as she is deemed worthy of wielding Thor's hammer, and imbued with his powers, assuming the title 'Goddess of Thunder'.

yuck...thor’s movies have always been the weak link smh

I usually go w/ the flow when it comes to their casting choices

but she has been provenly bad in the series imo

anyway I wasn’t planning on seeing this in theaters

The Hulk movie with Norton has some good fight scenes with him and the Abomination. The reason why the 1st Cap movie is so important because it shapes the personality and character of the Steve Rogers we see in later movies.

I’m super cool on the female shit unless it’s black

Suri
Thompson
Aoki
Phantom Girl from antman and wasp
Storm

Only black ladies

This aint the thread for it but...

I love how Feige is reaching back to the stars that were on this Marvel thing mad early...

But he BETTER show Me. Wesley Snipes some damn respect on his name.

Period

With Feige in charge he'll do Wesley right...

He won't get Lou Ferrigno-ed and be a security guard in the new Blade... Lol

The first two Thor films were weak. Same goes with Iron Man 2 & 3. Captain America has been the only strong solo franchise so far. I think Marvel has figured out how to make good solo films now. I expect Black Panther & Dr Strage sequels to both surpass their origin films.

Did you not also see that Mjolnir was returned back to its time line when Cap went back at the end
They never said he was returning the hammer nor have the directors or Marvel confirmed that he did. It doesn't make sense to keep it with him retiring but speculation is all we have to go on.....

Or was it really......
Hmmmmm.....

Then why have him carry Mjolnir with him when he was going back to return all the other items to his perspective timelines? I'm curious to how they're gonna answer these questions

Well his Shield was broken in half and needed a weapon. The time line is screwed wishy washy point blank. Where did Cap get the new shield? Wakanda make it or did it yank it from the time line? We can only speculate. The dwarf could make another hammer but how does Jane become worthy to begin with?

I thought Mjolnir was given to Valkryie and she was named the new protector of Asgard?

Very good points. As for Jane becoming worthy, I know they put a twist in the comics where Thor and Odin became unworthy because they were gods and Jane was able to pick it up as a result. Either way this movie gonna have a lot of shit to explain

Nope he just passed the mantle of queen on to her before heading off with the GOTG. Cap had Mjolnir with him when he was gonna go back in time at the end

Ah, ok.
Portman, at 5' nothing and 98lbs is someone I'm not buying as a female warrior.

She's been MIA for 2 movies + the entire Avengers series.

Her return feels forced and pastiche.

Perhaps but Jane Foster becoming Thor did happen in the comics so I have no issue with it becoming the plot for this movie.

Yeah but Marvel will make the most of it. I just want Lady Sif to return. I could see Marvel doing some type of all women team up film at some point.
