NFL has afc & nfc each with East & West coast teams. MLB does as well with the American League & National League. NBA only has east vs west. If they split the divisions up in a similar fashion then that would balance things. Sorry I didn't clarify my original post more to avoid confusion

LAS VEGAS — The Memphis Grizzlies took a step toward reducing their roster and salary crunch on Friday night.

Memphis will trade C.J. Miles to the Washington WIzards for Dwight Howard and will either trade or waive Howard, a source confirmed to the Commercial Appeal. ESPN first reported the details of the trade.

Shams Charania reported that waiving Howard is the Grizzlies' plan.

Miles averaged 9.3 points on 36.4% 3-point shooting in 13 games after arriving in Memphis at the 2019 trade deadline as part of the Marc Gasol trade.

Miles is owed $8.33 million next season while Howard is owed just $5.06 million.

Howard appeared in just nine games for the Wizards during an injury-plagued 2018-19 season.

In a separate move, Memphis is waiving veteran guard Avery Bradley, who was owed $12.96 million next season, The Athletic reported. By waiving Bradley, Memphis will save $10.96 million, because he was only owed $2 million if waived before July 8
