The standard rate at Black barbershops is now $35-$40

You sir. are appreciated it

When i went walk-in only i would be in the shop 10-12 hours 5 days a week. Once my kids got bigger and i had to be more hands on. Fuck that, appt only. Start at 9/10 lunch at 1/2 close at 7/8 and even with appt it still doesn’t guarantee gettin out the shop on time and in a decent hour cause it’s easy to get backed up

And every cut is different so it's always a fluid situation

Also it's guaranteed income when you see the appointments

I have friends who are barbers that's why I empathize

Back in the day my Dad owned a barbershop. Nigga ain't have no fucking app and he made way more than these new age niggas. If he closed the shop at 9pm and a nigga came at 8:50 guess what he was cutting that hair. My moms used to be mad as fuck at my dad but he was about getting that paper. Nigga had his shop open 7 days a week getting it.

I'm not even gonna begin to talk about your father

I will say the old ways aren't always the best ways

And again I limited appointment times to weekend schedule and walk INS during the week
That's usually standard practice to keep things from being a muddled mess

Yeah that price sounds right for my area...miss the days of being a student and getting that cheaper rate.

However my barber is appointment only and has an app where i can book my cut and he operates efficiently...always somebody coming out of the chair at the exact moment i step in the shop...no long ass waits..no waiting period.

My back up barber is more of the old school way..(put name on a list, sit and wait) but hes a little cheaper and i only go there in case of emergency

i cut my own hair now. .. but one of the reasons i stopped going was because of this right here... i hate appointment barbershops... part of the experience is going.. waiting your turn and chopping it up with people you barely know....

if that's gone wtf fuck im going there for

I hate sit and wait barbers. I don't have 2-4 hours to wait on a fade. Fuck that.

If you wanna come kick it cool. U go kick it. No one is stopping you. But some of us don't wanna be in the spot for literally half a day.

See this what's wrong with the black community we don't support each other.

We go give our money to Lin Yung Fuk and 'em instead to cut our hair or up the street to the Puerto Rican barbershop or the white girl at super cuts.

But won't give our local barber who we been going to for years $30 for a cut.

Man that's what's wrong with our community.

If my barber is black and he say you gotta pay $100 for a cut you should pay cuz that means you support black business if you don't your against the black community.

TRUTH!

Man this thread is too long and I know someone must have already suggested it but learning to cut my own hair was a gamechanger.

Especially if you're obsessed with staying fresh. I was in a situation where I couldn't do the weekly barbershop visits I was used to back home and hated relying on other folks. Ordered a set of Wahl pro clippers and an Andis T Outliner.... yea you'll fuck your shit up the first couple of times. So what? Set that bitch to 0 guard and shave it all off to let it grow back in if worst comes to worse.

But once you learn how to do it? Shit is amazing, I stay looking clean. Don't sleep on this... Its prob easier than ever with YouTube now

I used to work in the same building as the Univeral Music Group and the Rocafella cats used to be there all the time. There was a barbershop across the street. That wait was minimum 3 hours with an appointment. But the cuts were great. They had the best barbers from across the city, and a cut was $30 and this was back in 2001.

One day I finally got in the chair after waiting 3 hours. This dude came in who was a record exec talking on 2 phones, had an assistant that would take the phone he wasn’t talking on.

The assistant came over to me and was like his boss only had a few minutes to get his cut, and could he get my seat.

I told that nigga $500 lol.

The assistant was like he’s not going to pay five hundred dollars for a seat in the chair.

And I said then he’s gonna be a two phone waiting his turn for a cut ass nigga then.

I can get a shave and a haircut for under $30 with tip. Assuming your barber is a woman, exactly what services is your barber providing? :dunno:

Down here in Virginia (Norfolk) I been going to my barber since ‘98. He’s member of a app for barbers called live chair. You book appointments and you see the timeline of what’s open.. recently you gotta put your credit card on it, I said yo what’s up with that? He said too many young niggas make appointments but never showing up.. that’s costing him money. So to be sure put the card in.. so you have a option to say put it on the card or pay in cash in person. FYI I pay $30 for a cut

215.00 for a cut? No, thank you.
This is for dudes who got it and can write it off. A homey from high school is famous. He pays around $100. Cats pay for being anonymous and alone. Went in once. Once. He and the crew all wanted cuts. I roll with em. Shop was closed to public. Wash your hair, dry it, back to the chair, scalp massage, facial shit, fade, clean up and they had cigars and you could smoke whatever, and drinks if you had em or wanted em. Mine was $75 so I paid $100. Can’t do that once weekly, but I get it. Imagine a NBA squad all rolling in. That ain’t shit to them.

When I show up..Brah.I break DAT line...they put me in da chair next..I can't do business no other way..brah
