My office door is always stays open when women come in and I always have somebody else with me whether it is a meeting or lunch. Not going to get caught out here. The crazy thing is that if you go too far with just avoiding them in the office, that can be seen as sexual harassment itself.![]()
Naw this shit has happened B whether you want to accept it or not, maybe it did not happen on your campus but you can't say you have been to every college campus. I will say it was worse before the fall of 1991 when pledging was banned for the intake process. There is a reason why an intake process was needed in the first place because some members of the D9 were not exhibiting brotherhood and sisterhood. It does not take away from the good work they do in the community as an organization, but they are still filled with people who are flawed.
@ pledging was banned.Yeah, I could see that in the future. New voices will come along and say how things got to extreme in this era and try to compensate for it somehow.
Sidenote on thread. I remember my Aunt watching this guy Todd Manning back in the day on a soap opera with the storyline he was a monster who helped rape Marty Saybrook. It is pretty much what OP posted, but way back in 80's or sometime.
unfortunately - irl - I've witnessed that happen a few timesAnd then they did the usual soap thing
She fell in love with her rapist.

What are you nigga's telling your sons?
Because that "chic's mad cause they were hoes" ain't gonna hold up in court.
I know yall wanna cuss me out for saying that but your sons have to watch themselves and what they do, it's not 1995
Do you dudes listen to yourselves lol. If she was drunk and high to the point that she didnt know what was happening then it IS rape. The fact that people are downplaying this is pretty alarming.
There a feminist that says unless a man has a signed consent form for sex, all sexual activity is considered rape. She might have a point nowadays.
The climate that Feminists like the above mentioned have created is what you sound like.Man this board is getting too damn rapey. Like the whole last week has been crazy.
Might be time for a break. I just pray your daughters never get involved with men like their fathers. I pray they find better men.
@ pledging was banned.
Yes it was banned. Entire chapters have gotten suspended for campus if there was credible evidence of hazing. However underground lines are a different story. It is hard to break tradition. Intake process and Underground lines are two totally different experiences for those who seek to join. Those who go underground get the most respect. Fact.
I'll be goddamn if I'm a grown mf man pledging like I'm in undergrad. Let me learn my poems, take my test, I pay my money, you give me my member card. Imagine my grown ass letting somebody slap me, and give me wood til I can't stand. Got me fucked up.There was just a news article a few weeks ago about a 45 year old dude pledging que psi phi. That nigga called the police after they gave him a ridiculous amount of sets.
U think nationals don't know that lamps are still taking sets. Fuckouttaherewiththatbullshit.

I understand your point. But pledging is just banned on paper. The only time chapters get snatched is when shit gets out of hand or someone dies. Grad advisors be in on the shit. Nationals knows the shit is happening. They only act when they HAVE to. Otherwise they look the other way.
I can go on forever about this.

Yep. Good point.Ya still need more evidence of gunning for the black man and putting a black face on sexual predators? Or ya need some more time some more headlines aiming at black males destroying the image?
Juss want drop this lil bit of info...it was in 89 where 5 young black males were falsely accused of raping aa jogger in central park in nyc..they made it the front cover of every newspaper painting the picture of savage black males...your current president finance ads pushing this agenda and imagery.. Black men in hoodies became the poster child for rapist...white women grabbed their bags and cross the streets for yrs whenever groups of Black man would walk down the same street...people were scared shitless to go to central park at night... Kinda funny how this reminds me of that..that was 30 yrs ago and trump was 1 of the biggest pusher of that... 30 hrs later he's the President and the sex predator campaign returns...think on that fellows

True.
But at this point in the game; your UG chapter gets snatched; it might be a permanent wrap, and I say this as a pro-“process” person who realizes the liability financially to the organization and the physical and mental harm to the aspirant; it’s not worth it. For what; not to be know as being paper?
I’ve told my org leadership and friend in other orgs; in 10 years, UG will be a thing of the past. Waning interest; ridiculous fees to join and stay active; a more public light being cast on hazing; the cost of lawsuits (AKAs at Northwestern and their Nationals just got sued because a girl on the b-ball team was online and committed suicide); too much that doesn’t add to the bottom line of generating revenue.
Hell, just about ALL the chicks at my schools who were too broke, too slutty, too scared, too lame, just didn’t get picked, had bad grades (quite a few fell under this one); they all just joined via the grad chapter (mainly AKA and Delta) and are enjoying all of whatever benefits they feel mid-career women get from membership. They have careers; good paychecks; go to every convention; pay all dues.......why worry about undergrads, even if the roots of all the organizations are with undergraduate founders? JMHO.
True.

I could have easily did grad but the respect isn’t the same imo.
I’m glad I went undergrad.
Not that you can’t build a bond in grad but it’s different in undergrad. Although, I know some grad chapters who had just as hellacious process as undergrads but many don’t. But when you fighting in the trenches with someone and y’all all you have to depend on and when it’s all said and done they can vouch for your character. It means something. It’s supposed to be about quality over quantity. You don’t just want anyone in because they paid some dues. You can always tell who the paper ones are too. Those who know know.

Boom.
You hit the nail on the head; it’s why I pay dues but am not in a grad chapter. It’s so non-organic and as you said, pay for play. My sands; common process; common bond; my guys for LIFE.
Meanwhile, I’m still tight with my undergrad chapter and members, old and more recent because of common bonds and not just processes, but commonality of time of life in which we pledged and what it meant personally and to the yard. And even other frat I’ve met since leaving college which was a while ago; in the streets or professionally; within 5 minutes of convo you can tell who is made and paper. The convo is like speaking a common language vs two foreign ones. We still do business if needed but it’s definitely different.
Still, as pro-“process” as I am; I realize that times change and the organization evolves or dies.
FWIW; I have this patch on my line jacket; strolled into a regional conference and caught all the heat

I can dig it tho.Exactly.
You speak the language or you don’t.
The process does need to change tho.
Maybe needs to be more above ground again.

I’m dying....
You strolled through regional con with that patch on. :eek3:
You got balls bro.I can dig it tho.
What did you tell em when they pressed you bout the patch?
.
Told em; a) it was a customer order from College Crib in Nashville and non-refundable and b) my district directors hotel room number if they had a problem with it. I was in a contest that had a prize and a trip to the national convention with it and wound up not even placing when I was clearly the best of the four contestants; probably because of my jacket. Was my first intro to frat politics. I didn’t give a fuck though; I was 21 and loving life. Old heads were hot; undergrad bruhs loved it.
Man, I’ve seen chapters with “bloody”, “gangster”, “swinging”, “death chapter”; young heads back then could GAF.![]()

There is an outright onslaught against Straight Black Males.
And the Church said...True.
