Congressmen exist for one reason, to be relected, blocking a supreme court appointment for 4 years is a hard way to be relected. But if they thought blocking for 4 years would benefit them its probable. Just dont see enough people surviving midterms on a 4 year stall. They are all greasy, but for their own reasons.

Also, it's not about Thomas. It's about his replacement. Him retiring now means he can't be replaced with someone more to the left... which locks the SC for another generation.

This current court has literally voted AGAINST civil rights, voting rights, etc. Black people will have more difficult to vote during this midterm SOLELY because of the SC decision.
