Serious Question Regarding Slavery is a Choice

Do you really think Kanye was referring to physical enslavement when he made that statement ?

Or was it really a matter of Kanye trying to be a deep cat but being unable to articulate his point clearly ?

And instead of getting him to explain himself, people took his statement literal and piled on....

Could he really have been talking about present times and people chosen to be mentally enslaved. ..?

And even though it would still be a poor choice of words it would change the context of what he was saying

Posting the entire interview... The slavery issue starts at the 3:26 mark.

Personally I think he failed to put any point across well but it seems that he was mostly referring to the mentality that many black people seemed to be trapped into and the urgent need for many of us to wake up and be conscious minded... The 400 years reference was utter bullshit though. If he had made his point without referring to an era when we had no collective or individual power then his point would have been respected.

My thought too....stick to music because he is not that learned although he thinks he is

But neither are many who tried to jump on the appalled bandwagon

You can't rationalize the thoughts of the crazy. This dude swole up on psych meds and went and had lipo after that shit killed his moms. The slavery shit is icing on the cake.

She had more than liposuction done and that isn't what killed her but might have contributed but so could the 20 vicodin in a day or refusing to recover in yhe hospital

Did you not here the part where he said he was hooked on pain meds after the surgery?

Slavery was a choice. Now there were some serious consequences for your choices which could have been torture, death or death of family.

I think he was moreso referring to mental slavery

If Kayne really knew the history of our ancestors for freedom in this part of the world, he never would have made that statement.

What did Tubman say in regards to her freeing more slaves ?

As I said, poor choice of words but what was his intended point ?

I heard that......and I am saying lipo did not kill his mother so why would him having lipo be crazy

If you have to ask, I damn sure can't explain it to you homie. No disrespect intended. Most people don't see what to me is obvious.

His intended point would still be wrong. History proves that. Uprisings throughout the Americas over the centuries proves our people were well aware of their tribulations.

I think he was talking about the slave mentality we live in and under in this current day!! I dont believe anything the media says or put out.. They can take the easiest thing and flip it anyway they wanna flip it!! And most people are under the spell of the media, they will gobble up everything the media says as true.. Just remember 94% of the people are under the spell, 5% of the people can see the bullshit being pushed on the people, 1% of the people are pushing the bullshit and they know they have the 94% right were they want them...Anyway, these so called entertainment stars know what they are getting into when they sign up for the fame and fortune!! This shit is all scripted distraction bullshit!!

Again it isnt necessarily wrong if he was referring to those mentally enslaved in 2018...

Why are there new crackheads when the destruction has been evident for almost 40 years..

Why do we allow non blacks to open businesses in our communities

Why are there more liquor stores than schools in our communities

Why us meek mill treated as a returning hero but those who actually fought injustice still imprisoned over 40 years not mentioned.

Why is success trying to live with white folx instead of building up our communities...

Enlightenment isn't as wide spread as you believe

He was making the point of strength in numbers and slaves choosing to obey instead of rebelling and using that strength.

To a certain extent I get his point and he's right. We do the very same thing to this day, however, he's insensitive to a lot of the fear and trauma that our people went through. You can't negate that plus his delivery was where he lost everyone. He lost mostly everything in translation and that matters.

You can't be THAT insensitive and go THAT hard and expect folks to ride with you, ESPECIALLY in this social media click bait world, no matter how valid.

He would've been better off posing the question, "hey, do we use our strength in numbers correctly..." which is a question I pose on this site every single day, rather than giving it to everyone no KY.

That being said, fuck him and his ego. He could be doing soooooo much more effective work for our people, rather than obsessing to conquer fashion and blaming oligarchs to, oh yea.. SELL US MORE SHIT WE DONT NEED.

Touching the Sky ain't cool with a glass ceiling huh Ye ...

You learning now.

His intention was to relieve cacs of their

Deserved historical guilt and become a honorary cac...

To go with his blonde hair and blue contacts..

He wants full access to Dwight Boise world

I got his point about mental slavery and he was still wrong as fuck about it.

Mental slavery is not a choice because many blacks are born into such capacity of ignorance that they are blissfully unaware how far gone they are. Plus it’s generational.

First thing, he failed to define mental slavery in a coherent way. I could make a strong argument that Trump supporters (like himself) are mental slaves.

Secondly, to say a thing and not acknowledge the poor economics, education, embedded racisim in laws and constant derailment of progressiveness when trying— is elevating responsibility of the things whites have done to maintain that blacks stay a certain way.

That’s why I felt Kanye wealth has now have him jaded on the things he faced himself growing up.

Me growing up in a small southern white town; I had a very limited view of my history and how much in a bubble I was really in. For 18 years of my life, that was not a choice, because how the hell can you choose something when you don’t even know there was a choice in the first place?

In order for a person to make a choice, they have to consciously know there is a choice that can be made. Even then, how would they know to make the right choice when those around them or the education system muddies up truth?

So fuck Kanye and his wealthy and jaded family.

Nigga done got so rich, he lives above all the bullshit everyday black folks have to face and this nigga has the audacity to say mental slavery was a choice. He clearly forgot where he came from.

Fuck Kanye. He knows what he was saying. He said slavery WAS a choice, not slavery IS a choice. One of the most ignorant things I've heard in my life.

Why didn't more slaves fight ?

I have heard many people say they couldn't be a slave back then,a mofokr would have to kill them...

Isn't death or compliance a choice ?

Isn't the saying dying on your feet better than living on your knees relevant?

Isn't that the argument they use against NFL players and other athletes protesting...they are above it?

Didn't they just fuck up a nba player

Is anybody black ever above it ?

Do your children and those you are in contact with know the truth ?

Whose responsibility is it to teach truth ? Theis or ours ?

That's similar to saying why don't more prisoners try to escape. As stated earlier, many slaves did fight and many tried to escape. Some escaped to freedom and some were killed or dismembered. Over time, some conformed and/or became brainwashed (institutionalized). Some people are not rebellious or fighters. And some people have faith and hope that they will be free.
Kanye a idiot.

I’m not understanding your line of questioning and where you are going with it.

Exactly what point are you trying to make before I start answering questions that I am unsure on where your angle is at? Just making sure we are talking about the same thing.

Hmmm. So those that fought or those that escaped choose not to live in slavery....

Spot on.

Uneffectively, he tried to give us the punchline without the setup of the joke and expects people to praise him for it.

He skipped over everything you mentioned in bold, an some, but especially the economics of racism and classism itself.

It's too nuanaced a subject to tackle in one sitting or assessment, yet he thought he was the messiah delivering the message.

Nah.

Btw

There are also prisoners who choose not to comply or work prison jobs.Who do their time day for day and get discharged instead of parole. Some in fact do almost all their time in solitary
