Infinity Wars is going to have alot of competition this month and even leading into the summer. You have deadpool coming next week, and after that you have Star Wars Solo Movie.

January and February releases used to be signs that the producers had no faith in the movie's performance. With Deadpool, and now Black Panther, releasing a movie in February is a good way to get a long slow burn because it literally has little to no competition.i dont think so ....other summer movies gonna hurt it...

That said, I've been blown away by Infinity War having $1.164 BILLION worldwide in 2 weeks. The difference however is the competition. In recognizing this, the studio already pushed Infinity War back a week to give it 3 weeks space between competition from Deadpool 2, but still there are far more movies coming out in May and June then there were in February through April.
Time will tell, but I'm with Slam, I don't think it will be the avatar

It will have to make $243 Million. You have to understand black Panther was lucky because it had no real competition . IW has Deadpool Next week and Star Wars in 2 weeks. I don’t believe it has the legs to earn another $243 Million Domestically especially when you have competition sucking up all the air

Yeah they did a lazy job but I guess they don’t want to go over budget especially when marvel did not think black panther would do the numbers it did. I pretty sure they were hoping to make enough to make back there production budget
I remember the Russo Brothers said a team of special effects CGI team cost about $290,000 per minute of film. So the cost adds up

Bad CGI in blockbusters usually has more to do with time than money. A lot of these visual effects companies are overworked, underpaid (if at all), and under constant pressure from the studios. As the technology improves, they can do more stuff which makes the studios want to cram even more visual effects into the movies. What happens is that there isn't enough time to fix all the problems that arise. It's not like Ryan Coogler hired a bunch of VFX artists off craigslist and that's why the visuals looked weak in the Vibranium mine fight. For the most part, it's the same VFX companies working on all these big films.
You could probably make the argument that indie directors like Coogler, Matt Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) made rookie mistakes when handling VFX heavy blockbusters. Maybe they underestimated how long it would take to perfect some shots or had unrealistic expectations for others. It will be interesting to see how/if the visual effects improve in their respective sequels.

Some estimates have it opening at $200 million in China.
They can fix the CGI problem but it will cost the studio millions of more dollars. I’m pretty sure if they know black panther was going to make 1.3 Billion they would have thrown more money to clean up some of the CGI. You look at Avengers Infinity Wars CGI was done to perfection because marvels knows this is a billion dollar movie.
Read somewhere the reason they haven't made a hulk movie was because of the budget, which is why he gets a part in the movies but not his own.
If it opens at 200 mill in China, it will easily cross 2 bill...

After Wednesday, black panther was $2.297M behind The Wizard, so Thursday's box office likely pushed it ahead by another $250K. So, with just over 2 million this weekend which is possible Black Panther will surpass Harry Potter.

So, $4.9M to $4.7M to $3.2M it's not inconceivable to expect 2 million out of it this weekend, which would put it around $695 Million domestic. $700 is looking shaky. Still, $2M is not bad for the 13th weekend
