SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Disney and Marvel's Black Panther exploded to an estimated $75.8 million on Friday, the eighth largest opening day ever, just over the $75.5 million Captain America: Civil War started with before opening with $179.1 million. Early estimates have Black Panther targeting a three-day opening around $185 million and a $210+ million four-day debut. The film scored an impressive "A+" CinemaScore.

No, the 3D wasn't all that impressive honestly. The IMAX adds better sound quality.

For most movies IMAX is a waste of money. It's only been a handful of movies where it impressed me

Ryan Coogler's Black Panther has shattered box office records and the weekend count isn't even over. The latest Marvel film opened with an incredible $75,808,000.

That opening puts Black Panther ahead of Dark Knight Rises, Captain America: Civil War... and the entire Twilight Saga. it was my first IMAX experience...the only thing of note to me was the sound...shit was LOUD...that was good tho...I couldn’t hear anything but the movie which kinda made me forget about the ppl there other than those sitting directly on either side of me and the theater was packed

ya I saw civil war in 3D but I traded screen size for comfort going to the regal where they have those huge ass recliners...the screen size was basically the size of my projector in the living room tho

I can't stand that shit. I gotta go and see movies before my girl because she gonna run her mouth....and then she gonna ask me some shit that I don't even know the questions too......

if there's a car chase or a fighter jet dogfight action sequence....your seat is gonna move and bank and careen with the car chase or fighter jet...almost like a 3D rollercoaster ride...

if there's a shootout...on screen...there's gonna be puffs of air comin' out of your chair...to simulate the bullets whizzin' past your head...

if there's an explosion...bright lights will flash in the theater....

if there's a fire...they'll pump smoke into the theater....

and they pump various scents into the theater...at various times...throughout the movie....like if a scene takes place in the forest...the pump into the theater the smell of flowers and so on...
