did anyone else attempt the cpr trainer certification?

i had posted some months back about a profitable venture teaching cpr classes. i'm not doing it but my wife is for a few years so she can teach her son and pass it on to him so he will have something going on....

we just got our first set of dummies and she has her first 4 classes this month all already filled. it's easy money. she charges $55 for a 4 hour class with 10 students - 550.00 4 classes a week = 8800 a month before paying rent at the community center, paying for the dummies (5 @ 250 ea) and paying her son to assist/train (2k a month)

One thing of note.. you should be able to get around paying the community center if you offer the class to their employees for free or simply keep a seat open for them in each class. Run that by the executive of that center. Also partner with local clinics, schools etc and you will have a waiting list.

she only pays 180 a month doing that already. we're in pretty good with the city. and yes you're right, especially since this is a medical driven service industry in cleveland, that's why she started it. classes stay packed with other certified trainers...

it's non certified though. those that need this are those that require certification. stna's, nurses, jobs that require it, etc.

just to give a breakdown for those looking for something to make money with... this is the first month finishing....

6 classes two days a week @ $50 a student

all but the first 2 classes were not filled, 10 students per class

on pace to clear about 10k this month after this weekend

startup expenses were under 2000.00 including the classes needed for her to do the cpr classes.

the building we are in has two staffing agencies. they send their people her way, plus paycheck inserts we printed and provided to all of the nursing homes staffing centers, etc in the surrounding counties

I’ve been an instructor for the last 4 years. Where you can make a descent amount of money is targeting child care providers. You can easily offer the training to a head start program and they are more than happy to have there faculty certified in CPR and first aide.

by all means do it. right now she's avg 1k a week, she's about ready to quit her job, lol i'm buying 2 dummies a week now to keep up with the classes and got a second room and hired a second instructor

no, her job/career is EFDA/hygienist. she has her certification in cpr/bls provider training so it's something that's being done secondary.
