*** 2018 State of the Union Thread ***

LOL y'all niggas went from trump would be out and going down to being worried about 2020. I told yall. 8 years

we're fucked then
Unless we flip a lot in November

Best hope is a Democratic house, which is looking like a real possibility.

When the democrats can chair committees and have subpoena power, it's a whole new ball game. That is Trumps worse nigtmare and he will act right when he learns the finance committee can launch an investigation into his tax returns and business dealings.

My biggest fear is a real short term economic boost from the tax cuts combined with any decent sized infrastructure plan that can give Trump economic numbers he needs so he can brag and take credit for.

If we've learned anything, it should be that Trump is an exception to the rule. This isn't a new reality for politics bruh.

Kennedy's have a liberal brand. The Dems are already getting those voters. Bernie had all the Millenials too.

The Dems win when they get the black vote out, period.

Don't get me wrong on the importance of the Black vote. But we are 10 percent of the population. Obama could not win with just black voters. He needed latinos, asians, gays, and millenials.

Hillary lost in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Those are normally Blue states. The Dems didn't get those voters they normally get.

I'm not risking another 4 years of Trump. We need ALL the votes we can get.

Regardless of whatever they find, it's debatable if you can even charge a sitting president with a crime, and even if you convict him, he can pardon himself.

Then it would take 67 senators to remove him.

He'll drone on and on with the speech cadence of a six grader. He'll read a few applause lines and the GOP side of the chamber will rise in unison and cheer like he just said something profound. It'll be all show and a not very good one at that. I'd rather watch paint dry. :hmm:

Those swing states you mentioned were decided by less than a point. If the Dems had gotten the black vote out, they would have won all 3 of those states.

What are you talking about? I wasn't even talking about impeachment.

We don't even know what Mueller has behind closed doors anyway. It's entirely possible he has enough goods that would be enough for 16-18 Republicans to flip.

Uhh.... when did we learn that? When that dude's approval rating hits the teens, maybe. When every third white person in public isn't still supporting him through his BS, maybe. But as long as he has a GOP Congress at his back and a bunch of hypocritical so-called Christians on his jock, he's real enough to me.

Don't forget, Trump didn't re-invent anything. He's just riding the shit-wave that's been rolling for years now. And the most uncomfortable thing to me is that if we don't hit this course-correct hard and right, if we can't convince these assholes that the price of their fuckery is total annihilation for their party, somebody else will pull this same shit a few years from now. But instead of a dumbass like Trump, we'll get somebody with an even worse agenda, that actually knows what they're doing.

Man. Fuck his approval rating. he's the President. He won. You put anyone out there and they try even 5 percent of the shit he did and they wouldn't even get out of the primaries. Nigga was on stage during a debate talking about dick size (pause)... he's an exception to the rule.

All right. I'll grant you that no one prior to him got away with all of this. And it's unlikely that anyone will again. My point, though, is that as unpopular as he might be to the general public, he still has support, and a lot of it in places that count. Until we verify that that support will fall away (be it elections, impeachment, convictions, whatever...), those same people are still ignorant, malicious, or just plain shady enough to go down this road again with someone else.

I don't disagree. Removing Trump doesn't remove his supporters. I'm just saying that he's an exception to the rule. Look at this bullshit today. He's gaslighting the country. He's attacking the top brass at the FBI and JD (that he fucking appointed). It's ridiculous the bullshit he gets away with, daily.
