Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

Why didn't the Game of Thrones showrunners play up the relationship between Cersei Lannister and Tywin Lannister's brother Kevan? Listening to the audio books now, after Tywin Lannister died, his brother made a play for the kingdom as Regent telling Cersei Lannister to take her ass to casterly rock.

When Cersei Lannister said, "the king is my son" he shot back with, "and so was Joffrey and if he is any example you are as unfit a mother as he was a ruler."

But then he seemed to pull a Ned Stark, give her a warning and walk away. You don't threaten Cersei Lannister. That's where I'm at right now so I don't know what happened so far in the book

The Hound died in the book. I wonder why they kept him alive in the Game of Thrones series? He is an insignificant enough character, why keep him alive?

Same reason that Brons characters role is more robust in the show... The actor playing him is great and has become a fan fave.

Good story tellers and show runners recognize when a minor character catches fire and gets hot you fan that flame.

I can't lie, I love them both. Especially Bronn

"If somebody follows me without an invitation, I'm the last person they ever follow"

"I'm a sellsword. I sell my sword. I don't loan it out to friends as a favor."

Who has the real scene without the photoshop?

Not really because Ned Stark and Robb Stark would still be alive cause they are favorites.
I think I get your point though. Showrunners just do whatever they want!

Or is he? There's a theory that The Hound may be dead but Sandor Clegane is indeed alive and at peace on the Quiet Isle.

If you re-read the chapter where Brienne is on the Quiet Isle with Pod and Ser Hyle and she is talking to the elder brother I think you'll understand why people think the Hound is still alive. There are lots of little hints in that chapter that point to him being the gravedigger.

1. The elder brother never says Sandor is dead. He says the Hound is dead, Sandor is at rest.

2. The elder brother knows WAY too much about Sandor and his personal issues for a quick death bed confessional.

3. The elder brother speaks of his past life as a soldier and states that he died and was reborn on the Quiet Isle. (Making people think that Sandor's death is metaphorical too)

4. The elder brother is said to have healing powers that are little short of miraculous. (Sandor was pretty badly wounded when Arya left him and seemingly about to die.)

5. Stranger, Sandor's horse is in the stables. Remember Arya says that Stranger is vicious if Sandor isn't around. How did the elder brother get Stranger to the QI without Sandor?

6. Brienne notes the grave digger is bigger than her (and she's pretty big), walks with a limp (remember his thigh wound) and pats the dog (Sandor loves dogs)

Probably missed a few but I'm sure someone will add to the list :D

both characters' deaths drive multiple plots in the story - keeping them alive intrinsically changes the story...

The novel left the door open on the Hound...

Bronn's role isn't more robust on the show over the books... they added a scene or 2 for him like they have done for most characters not named Yara / Asha - (Theon's sister and the Greyjoy story has been shoved in the closet)

I'm listening to the audio book, and not a good copy I might add. Whenever I turn off my car or switch to the radio and back it skips around and doesn't pick up exactly where I left off.

But exactly as you said, he does say that the Hound is dead that he watched him die and I can get the metaphorical aspect. You could argue that the kingslayer died when he lost his hand or during the route back to King's Landing with Brienne and Jamie was born.

Man, I love this fucking board. Y'all mother fuckers are awesome

You do know we have a thread on the books

Maisie Williams says that the final season of Game of Thrones will kick off in April of next year. Williams, who plays Arya on the HBO phenomenon, told Metro that the last season will kick off in just over a year.

“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019],” Williams said. “That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

Asked about how she wants to see Arya’s story end, she said, “I’ve always said I wanted her to find peace. The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”

Previously, HBO confirmed that the eighth and final season for the hit dark fantasy series would arrive in 2019. This at least narrows down the time frame to a degree.

"Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are pivoting from dragonglass to lightsabers.
Benioff and Weiss are going to write and produce a new series of "Star Wars" films, Disney and Lucasfilm announced Tuesday.

The films will be separate from the current Skywalker saga and another "Star Wars" trilogy in development that's helmed by "Last Jedi" director, Rian Johnson.

"David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today," Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in a statement. "Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting."

Benioff and Weiss are responsible for creating one of the most popular series in the history of HBO, if not all of television with "Game of Thrones." The series, which is based on the books by George R.R. Martin, has built a global fan base and won multiple Emmys.

The series, which stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, airs its final season next year. Once the two show runners leave the world of Westeros, they will be taking on one of the biggest blockbuster brands in film history.

"In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we've been dreaming of it ever since," Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. "We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of 'Game of Thrones' is complete."

Lucasfilm and Disney did not give release dates for the new films but joked that there "have (thankfully) been no sightings of White Walkers around Lucasfilm."

The latest film in the "Star Wars" saga, "The Last Jedi" has made more than $1.3 billion at the global box office since opening in December. The next film in the franchise, "Solo: A Star Wars Story," which tells the origin story of the young Han Solo, opens in May.

The news led some online to question if Benioff and Weiss' involvement in the new "Star Wars" films would interfere the creators' newly announced HBO series, "Confederate."

The alt-history series, which takes place in a reality where the Confederacy won the American Civil War, was announced in July and immediately stirred controversy.
