I've been in business situations before where we ask for a budget to pull off an idea. The company offers some standard boiler plate that isn't what we wanted. When I was with one manager he just bitched about how "these white folks don't wanna spend money blah blah". I even heard the head of the investment company say outright "ya gotta give us a plan and a proposal to show us what ya wanna do"


I fired thang guy- much later for other reasons.

Couple years later, new management, new company. Manager draws out proposals, projections , SHOWS how much money we need to spend and get back.we know the market, we know the money that's available on it. We get that deal. We fulfill our end of the bargain.

With those plans and some creativity we could've gotten that money from anybody.


That's how it works. It's not always that smooth but that's the basics.

The Black American market is significantly smaller than the white one. In America. In Nigeria guess which market is bigger. In Japan the Japanese market is bigger. In Latin America the Latin market is bigger. See where this is going?

So yeah, some white woman comedian who gets 20% of their market vs Monique who gets 20% of HER market, guess who's got a larger market? That's not racism , aside from the fact that all those white people don't know who Monique is, and all of us don't know who this white lady is.

If by chance the Black comedian crosses over - then they have a possiblity of getting both markets. That's Chris rock , Dave Chapelle, etc.

This is why BET , which by name is geared towards the Black market, will always be significantly smaller than HBO. But there's still a lot of money on there (in Mo's case, 500k) and you can serve your market, not worry about crossing over and eat very well.

As far as that being worth more than 500k that's on Monique to show- not by hollering other peoples names but by actual numbers of who would watch and how that translates into money. If she does that, she can go anywhere.
