I roll with the fortuitous timing of Umar poking the tiger being able to result in his finally getting hard checked for his arrogance. deception and thievery. See, I don't look at the fact of these two Black men arguing publicly as being a tragedy, because I see neither as a leader.

Let me clarify: When I say "leader" I'm speaking of leading a social movement - in the vein of a Malcolm or Martin, Bobby Seale or Huey Newton or Ghandi. Umar proclaims himself to be "The Prince of Pan-Afrikanism" - yet he has not begun any crucial work like one of the fathers of Pan-Afrikanism, Malcolm X did (OOAU). There is a difference between someone proclaiming themselves to be something and trying to wear those shoes - as Umar has, and what Tariq does.

I'm sorry but Tariq feeling products and Umar selling products has nothing to do with anything. They are not on equal footing. Tariq did not continually fraudulently ask for funds for a school that never materialized (and ostensibly pocket the money). This brotha Umar may have just USED Black consciousness to con people out of money.

A "con" is when they either give you nothing that they promised for your money on purpose - OR when they do a bait and switch. IE: claiming to sell you a blu-ray player, but when you get home and open the box, it's bricks inside.

I don't agree with much of Tariq's methodology - positions on negro bed-wenches, going after people like Roland Martin relentlessly who really never attacked him, misinforming people about Black Lives Matter, telling folks not to vote, his position (uneducated) on Black feminism, etc. But he has not defrauded anyone out of their money. They got what they paid for. They donated money to his project, he delivered product. Point blank.

HOW is Tariq "ROBBING people just like Umar" by saying he has the #1 documentary and profiting off of it? Did he promise profit sharing? No. Did he say this would make the donators co-owners of the franchise? Nope. He asked for donations for a movie. People gave them. Complete Transparency. He made the movie and he made a profit. I see Tariq as what he is: an entertainer and a businessman. Also, enjoying the spotlight does not = seeking to be a leader. Being "a voice" does not necessitate seeking leadership.

This is not even remotely comparable to the brotha who promised people a school, verbally beat people down both who didn't donate and did, threatened not to help children of non-donators even though he is a child psychologist and self-proclaimed leader - and in the end didn't deliver anything but broken promises.
