Star Wars The Last Jedi (SPOILER Discussion thread)

Let me explain the Rey fighting skills thing.
She has been fighting all her life.
She was already trained with the staff and knew how to fight.
This is seen in the Force Awakens. She is a natural born fighter.

Kylo is strong with the force but not a good fighter.

He was also injured during of of his battle with Rey.

So it was easier for her to beat him.

So he gets bested in his 1st challenge by someone who's never picked up a lightsaber in her life?

C'mon now...these writers be reaching.

:lol:Yeah there is no explaining that shit. She basically started using the force for 2 to 3 days and became a skilled sword fighter at the same time:roflmao2:

I understand the part Kylo not being a good fighter. But we learn in The last Jedi they mentioned after Kylo killed some of Luke students. He also left with the other half. To me it would make sense to train with those students.

Vader didn't know... earlier cuts of the movie are vague about how the Emperor found out, but the new canon is that the Emperor told Vader not the other way around

this entire vid shows how many times Lucas changed it - I have it cued to the latest canon

no confirmation - Vader had no clue that he even had a daughter until RoJ

Yoda's canon reasons for hiding on Dagobah are well documented

And yes the story of the Exile and Revan were made canon in Star Wars Rebels

Where and when do they name Revan? and Vader only knew cause he basically used emath type powers to search Luke's :Feelings" not his read his mind. And yeah, yoda left to go to Dagobah to not get his ass kicked by Vader and Sid

my bad on Revan - I confused a deleted episode from Clone Wars with Rebels ep on Malachor

Vador wasn't being an empath - empaths can only read emotions not information

"your thoughts betray you..."

Yoda could have ran any where - he picked Dagobah for its force properties

www.starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dagobah
Dagobah was a planet in the Dagobah system, and one of the purest places in the galaxy within the Force...
...after the Great Jedi Purge and his subsequent failure to defeat Darth Sidious, Jedi Master Yoda went into voluntary exile on Dagobah. Here,Yoda lived near a cave infused with the dark side of the Force, which kept him from detection by Emperor Palpatine.

The filmmakers discuss Captain Phasma
http://ew.com/movies/2017/12/17/star-wars-last-jedi-spoilers-captain-phasma-killed-survive/2/

As far as we know, Phasma is no more. But at the post-screening Q&A for The Last Jedi, writer-director Rian Johnson left room for a possible return.

“Phasma is the Kenny from South Park of this series,” he joked.

Among those rooting for her return is Luke Skywalker himself. “I think she’s got to survive,” Mark Hamill said, offering up his own theory. “She falls through the flames and lands on a big pile of rubbish.”

Another person who has a secret idea for how Phasma could come back is the actress herself. “Gwendoline has it all figured out how she wants to come back,” said costume designer Michael Kaplan.

“No one’s ever really gone,” Hamill added, repeating one of Luke’s lines from the film.

That guy, it's hard for me to believe that was the same Luke from the original triology. The same Luke who stood the defiantly before the emperor, proclaiming like his father before him that HE - was a jedi, decided to sit this one out while his sister holds the line?
His father was fully immersed in the dark side - almost - but he believed he could be turned; but because sense a little darkness in his sister's son "oh I gotta dead my nephew" . You telling me could not have got Leia and Han and did an intervention with Ben, tell him about his grandfather and how the dark side almost consumed him? -NOPE I gotta dead him sorry.

-Really :hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Now yes I agree she was good with the wooden staff. But she never wielded a lightsaber in her life. Now if she somehow got hold of a staff lightsaber, then It'd be much more believable that she could beat Kylo b/c they set a precedent with the wood staff.

It's like a boxer beating a bjj fighter using no boxing but bjj even though he/she never did a day of bjj training in their life. It doesn't make any sense.

yeah thats bad- its like they just wanted to be dark
at least I can see how that utter lack of faith would break Luke

well - that's definitely not how it works - your analogy is very poor
a skilled fighter with a staff would still be very effective with a medium or extended range edged weapon
staff saber axe mace spear... its not like moving from kubotans or chucks to sword

Kylo was diminished... fatigue stops any fighter

Rey -someone with a strong connection to the force can feel the immediate future add to that she is already a skilled fighter...

Not readin 19 pages of shit

Did anyone else think it was gay how Luke milked that animal?

If it was on all 4s I would have thought oh a cow but that nigga was sittin back like it was gettin head.

No need to read just watch the video I posted and it sums it all up including what you wrote...

Yes he's the ONE Black Jedi that ever existed in the history of the Jedi order. In the entire galaxy. And he's DEAD.

I find that pretty fucking LAME.

He may even be the only Black Force-sensitive that ever existed. That's even lamer.
I believe I read somewhere that mace wen do whole planet. Was force sensitive. Any way I think there is black Jedi and sith characters. From the old republic era.

Im not even gonna add the fact that in the Last Jedi the only black people were the black (pros?) that were accompanying every gambler in the casino, and the slave kids working on the same planet....was HOPING that the black kid was going to be the one that was force sensitive and picks up the broom at the end but shoulda known better there is def a quota in Star Wars....1 black person per saga....Mace Windu (1-3), Lando (4-6), Finn (7-9).

Movie was ok.......Disney tries to be political too much with the whole weapons dealer stuff....

The racism of Finn not being able to be romantic with Rey and them adding some random Asian (ie non-white) broad to buffer the love interest is typical racist hollywood....
It wasn't even the hotter, fighter Asian either. They gave him her dumpy mechanic sister. lol "Here janitor boy, you can't have the white Jedi bitch, but you can have this mechanic chick."

Come to think of it there wasnt a single smashable woman in the entire film..with the exception of Paige(who died too early) and those women who were flanking Justin Theroux's character

I need to go back and watch TFA. Because in Rey's vision, Kylo had a red saber as well as an outift with the Knights. Did he come back later to finish the job and burn the temple? Or was that vision not a part of him turning on Luke.

exactly!!! I guess we were both right! I love talking Star Wars with actual fans!

Good lord man... did you not watch the Prequels?

Mace Windo was black and was the second most powerful Jedi.

He wasn't the second most powerful in terms of force mastery. His mastery of Vaapad (a modified 7th form of lightsaber combat) put him on par with Yoda, Dooku, Anakin and Palpatine as lightsaber duelists. His gift of shatterpoints was his greatest weapon and also his undoing (against Sidious).
