Back in the day Earth, Wind, and Fire made a jazz rendition of a lot of their hits. I can't find that joint any where. Can the fam find it?

Don't understand the question. Do you mean they released an album of their songs done in a Jazz format?

Okay. When you say "back in the day" exactly what year(s) are we talking about? They are my favorite band and I have all their stuff. But I didn't really follow them after Maurice got sick and stopped touring.

I don't remember any Jazz album.

Fam I can't remember the exact date. It had to be in the 90s. I was still in college. It is not mentioned on their wiki. I had that shit on a cassette tape. Me and one of my potnahs were reminiscing and he remembers it too.

Okay. Do you remember any of the songs? Do you remember the cover?

You may be talking about Sun Goddess by Ramsey Lewis. He used the band on the recording. I don't recall any jazz like albums or renditions of their tunes done by themselves. May have been another artist.

It was Live in concert. Shinning Star, Way of the world, Fantasy, Reasons with Philip Bailey battling a sax. I can't remember the cover.

Okay. The entire album was live? Because what you're describing sounds like it might be Gratitude. Dual lp with one studio, one live platter.

No it was EWF bruh, at least Philip Bailey. I am not sure about Maurice.

I have Gratitude, Sunshine is one of my favorite cuts.

Hmm. That call and response with Phillip and an alto was pretty standard at every show. And those songs you mentioned were done at every show too. I have no idea how many live recordings there are of their shows but I'd be willing to bet there's a shit load. So, let's try the cover. Anything you can remember about it?

Wasn't Earth, Wind & Fire. Had to be a jazz tribute album by someone else. I just checked the EWF discography on Allmusic.com. No jazz albums. How far back in the day are you talking? There's a smooth jazz tribute cd out there.
