I understand your point completely. It just seems she wants it both ways. Now that her child is mostly white, why she so worried about African heritage? She wasn't worried about that shit when she was having a mostly white child? She's mixed(seen as black though) and had a choice to make when having children knowing it would basically determine their race.

Not an unfair point, but I argue that being black in this country ( being that race is a social construct determined solely on how you're perceived) provides an experience that overwhelmingly influences one identity.
You could say, "she's half-white though!", but that half couldn't stop that piece of shit for slinging the N word at my queen.

I agree - I just feel that I can't slight a bi-racial person/multiracial person for being in a relationship with a piece of them that's actually part of them, regardless of what he/she looks like to me. You understand one of the most impressive things about Barack Obama to black women? The fact that he married a black woman, like, a sister...I know her family wasn't poor or shit like that but that doesn't have shit to do with her being a black woman. But, again, he could have been with a white woman, especially since he was raised by his single white mother.

I didn't really finish my thoughts but it comes from a conversation I have with a white coworker about Michelle Obama, being from the Southside and them thinking specific things about her being from Southside Chicago. It was a line they used on me and I was, like, wtf does that shit have to do with blackness lol. Meaning, just because I didn't grow up poor don't mean shit about how black or non-black I am. But, I think a lot of these white people out there think that shit about us - if you grew up in a middle class household, oh, that class system doesn't erase your blackness but, well, you're not like other blacks...
