Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Tyrese Gibson's Feud: A Timeline of Their Fast & Furious Rants
by MIKE VULPO | Thu, Nov 2, 2017 6:00 PM

Tyrese Gibson don't exactly see eye-to-eye on every aspect of the movie projects.

As a new month kicked off, Tyrese took to Instagram and shared a lengthy post inferring that he may not be sharing the big screen with some of his co-stars much longer.

"Hello world.......... hello loyal fans and loved ones from OUR fast universe........ I'm sorry to announce that if Dewayne is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce - You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours......... close your eyes dude you're a 'Clown'...... #CandyAssBitchMade," he shared with his nine million followers. "All my real one.... Men on integrity... my real ones out here stand UP...... folks that GP to the gym and get big naturally #NoJuice #NoOJ spin off huh? Spin off these nuts selfish champ...... pause notice who's got his arms around my shoulder and who's standing alone - #OurChildrenMatter."

While Dwayne has yet to respond—he's posting about Make a Wish Day on set of his upcoming movie Skyscraper instead—we decided to take a deep dive into this feud that doesn't appear to be slowing down.

How did it all begin? Who is more upset? And will it affect any future movies? Take a look at our timeline below.

August 8, 2016: While filming Fast 8, The Rock hopped on social media to vent his frustrations.

"There's no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one," he began. "My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ‘em. My male co-workers however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken s--t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses."

While none of his male co-workers were named in the rant, it certainly sparked a highly publicized discussion and debate.

August 10, 2016: As speculation continued into who The Rock could be referring to in his initial rant, Tyrese decided to respond in a now-deleted Instagram post. He also tried to take himself out of the running possibilities.

"Does any of us know why bro decided to jump out there with his post? No...Would one assume that IF he's going to jump out there and generalize and say 'Male Co-Stars' he would be more clear and call out names???" he wrote. "Of course he should of—Let me calm you guys all the way down...I don't know WHO he has a problem and I don't have any details of WHAT those problems are—as a matter of fact if I DID know I would tell you s--t!!!!"

Tyrese continued, "I think Dewayne aka DJ happens to be one of the most humble, down to earth and professional people I've ever worked with and more importantly he's my brother we have NEVER had a problem and will never have a problem...WE are good over here....As a cast we're ALL married dammit!!!"

November 19, 2016: The Rock made it perfectly clear that he has no regrets about his "Candy asses" rant earlier in the summer.

"I was very clear with what I said. I've been in the game a long time," he explained to the Los Angeles Times. "The irony is after that and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest shot through the roof to a whole other level."

rs_1024x631-141104143001-1024.Furious7.11.ms.110414.jpg

September 13, 2017: When speculation surfaced that The Rock may be in talks for a spinoff centered around his Fast & Furious character, Tyrese decided to comment on one of his co-star's Instagram posts.

"If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter," he wrote in a now-deleted comment. "I don't wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I'm on your timeline cause you're not responding to my text messages – #FastFamily is just that a family…….. We don't fly solo."

Tyrese continued, "I have never and will never have a problem with this major movie star he's my brother. I'm simply trying to reach him cause he won't call me back about this solo #HobbsMovie I want you to shoot it just not right now cause the #Fast9 release date has already been announced and we can't let our loyal fans #FastFamily or our loyal fast and furious FANS down on any level from pushing the date…….. Didn't you see how HUGE #Fast8 was? It's because we announced and KEPT our release date bro."

October 5, 2017: Recently, Fast & Furious 9 changed its release date from April of 2019 to April 2020. According to Tyrese, it may all be The Rock's fault. "Congratulations to @therock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU - And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post," Tyrese wrote on Instagram. "Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah..... it's about #TeamDewayne #3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #BayWatch? Guys guys just relax I'm just a passionate film critic."

October 11, 2017: This fall, Tyrese decided to post a video of The Rock criticizing his sixth studio album titled Black Rose, which was released back in 2015. In the video, The Rock referred to the album as "the biggest piece of dog s--t that I have ever heard."

In Tyrese's post, he called out his "haters" and expressed how proud he was with the project. "Haters come in many forms...... In my Kanye voice #BlackRose is one of the greatest R&B Soul Albums of all time my single #SHAME was #1 on Billboard for 16 weeks my album came in #1 on the TOP 200!!!" he explained. "Real R&B music lovers know..... This album is in a league of its own."

November 1, 2017: Tyrese has threated to quit the Fast & Furious franchise if The Rock stars in the upcoming project. E! News has learned that as of now, production on the Fast & Furiousmovies that have been announced will proceed as planned.

November 2, 2017: Could this feud be over? "Want you guys to know I️ had a real Heart to Heart with one of Dewayne's associates and this will be my last post about him........ I️ repeat my last.... I️ respect the associate who called," Tyrese shared on Instagram. "My story will never change I️ was never DJ's Co-Star... I'm Shayla's Father first.... Justin Lin is back in the driver seat that's exciting cause it going to feel like the true #FastFamily all over again..... When we see Justin we see Paul....."

Fast & Furious 9 is scheduled for release on April 10, 2020.

“I mean, I’m following it on Instagram, too,” Brewster, 37, exclusively told Us Weekly. “I think ultimately we’re all a family, we all love working together. So hopefully it’s all going to be OK in the end, but I’m watching like everybody else.”

She added: “It’s just interesting.”

Look Back at Fast and Furious Franchise

Earlier this month, Gibson, 38, seemingly blamed Johnson, 45, for holding up production on the next Fast and Furious film. “#PSA Congratulations to @therock and your bother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and furious franchise about YOU — And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post — Gn folks see you in 2020 April,” he captioned an Instagram post on October 4. “#FastFamily right? Nah….. It’s about #TeamDwayne #3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #BayWatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”

Days later, he addressed the apparent beef again. “Everybody’s coming at me like I’m hating on Dwayne about his spinoff but I’m not. The truth is, I just wish he was releasing it at a different time,” he told TMZ on October 10. “He’s the reason we’re pushing the release date back now. I just got a problem with Dwayne, it appears that he’s being selfish, it appears that he’s so focused on furthering his own self-interests.” According to Gibson, Fast and Furious 9 is now coming out in 2020. “That’s f—ked up,” he added.

Paul Walker: His Life in Photos

The former WWE wrestler, meanwhile, spoke about the spinoff with Jason Statham amid the controversy. “My goal from day 1 was to come in and create an exciting/fun character for the fans, elevate the franchise and built it out. #HobbsShaw2019,” he tweeted on October 6.

On Sunday, when asked if The Rock can take on Gibson in real life, Brewster laughed and replied: “I’m not getting embroiled in that, there is enough drama.”

Vin Diesel sides with The Rock in ‘Fast’ feud with Tyrese Gibson

Vin Diesel has chosen sides in the latest “Fast and Furious” baldheaded beefcake beef — and it’s not with whom you think.

Diesel, 50, showed solidarity with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Johnson’s feud with Tyrese Gibson, despite having his own feud with the former WWE star last year.

Gibson, 38, lashed out at Johnson, 45, on social media last week after it was announced Johnson’s “Fast and Furious” spinoff would come out before “Fast and the Furious 9,” accusing Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions partner Hiram Garcia of “breaking up the ‘Fast’ family.”

“Fast 9” was pushed back from an April 19, 2019 release, to April 10, 2020, while Johnson and “Fast” alum Jason Statham‘s spinoff is now set for a July 26, 2019 release.

Gibson rushed to Diesel’s defense when Diesel and Johnson butted heads on the “Fate of the Furious” set in 2016, but Diesel didn’t reciprocate this time around, though he made it clear that he was in charge of bringing The Great One on board.

“Brotherhood… and all it’s complexities … A woman named Jan Kelly responded to a question I had asked on Facebook, ‘who they would like to see me work with?’ She said would love to see me work with Dwayne,” Diesel captioned a snap of himself and Johnson from “Fast 5” on Saturday. “I listened to her request and he became Hobbs … I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the Fast 9 release date was pushed… but it would be unfair to say it is anyone’s fault.”

“As we plot the course to expand the Fast & Furious universe, one must be mindful to take stock of the roads we took to get here. The pillars of authenticity, family and most importantly, our loyal fan’s perspective has been instrumental in procuring success,” Diesel added. “However, like any vehicle that has run around the globe 8 times, the franchise is in need of maintenance. My good friend and the godfather of Universal, Ron Meyer has granted me the time to do just that. We have some very exciting news to share soon… stay tuned.”

Johnson hasn’t directly responded to Gibson’s seemingly endless stream of social media posts, but he hinted at the drama in an Instagram video over the weekend.

“Real men work. Big dogs eat,” Johnson said during an intense workout clip. “Little crying puppies stay on the porch.”

“Big dog” Johnson’s plate is full for the next two years leading up to the Hobbs spinoff and “Fast 9” with the release of “Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle” in December and is 10 more movies slated between now and 2018.

Gibson, who’s currently facing abuse allegations from his ex-wife, has “Fast 9” and one other project, “Desert Eagle,” announced for 2020. On Saturday, Gibson revealed on Instagram that he’d like to take on 20 musical performances to bide his time until “Fast 9” films.

Tyrese Gibson can’t let feud with The Rock go
By Jessica Sager

October 12, 2017 | 11:30am

We smell what Tyrese Gibson is cooking, and it’s an increasingly overdone beef with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

On Wednesday, Gibson, 38, Instagrammed a two-year-old video of Johnson joking about his album, “Black Rose,” captioning the clip, “Haters come in all forms … In my Kanye voice #BlackRose is one of the greatest R&B Soul Albums of all time my single SHAME was #1 on Billboard for 16 weeks my album came in #1 on the TOP 200!!! Real R&B music lovers know….. This album is in a league of its own #BlackRose.”

In the video, Johnson, 45, speaks to a group of people off-camera about Gibson’s 2015 record.

“Just a little quick shoutout to Tyrese,” Johnson says in the clip. “His new album, ‘Black Rose,’ I just heard it. I have got to say in all honesty, it’s the biggest piece of dog s—t that I have ever heard.”

He continues, “It shouldn’t be called ‘Black Rose,’ it should be called ‘big piece of black dog s—t.’ Not even the hard dried up dog s—t … It’s the soft dog s—t. It’s like baby s—t. That’s what the album is like. I never want to hear it again and I’m never going to f—king forgive him for wasting my time. That is time I’ll never get back. It’s like dog s—t is in my ear. Motherf—ker.”

At the conclusion of the video, which ends abruptly, Johnson cracks a grin as he walks away.

It’s the latest in a series of bizarre jabs Gibson has taken at Johnson since it was announced that Johnson will star in a “Fast and the Furious” spinoff with Jason Statham, pushing back the release of “Fast 9” to 2020.

Last week, Gibson blasted Johnson for allegedly “breaking up the ‘Fast’ family,” managing to cite both former President Barack Obama and the United Nations in his rants. A month prior, Gibson begged the “Ballers” star to return his phone calls.

“Fast” star Vin Diesel, who previously had a beef of his own with Johnson, defended the pro-wrestler turned possible presidential candidate on Instagram last week, writing, “I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the Fast 9 release date was pushed… but it would be unfair to say it is anyone’s fault.”

Johnson hasn’t directly responded to Gibson’s frequent complaints but may have hinted at the drama in an intense workout video over the weekend, saying, “Real men work. Big dogs eat. Little crying puppies stay on the porch.”

The Rock a “Clown” for Breaking Up the Fast & FuriousFamily
Dwayne Johnson’s Fast spinoff is underway while the ninth movie in the series remains delayed.

More drama in the seemingly infallible #FastFam: After news of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Fast & Furious spinoffbroke this week, Tyrese Gibson took to Instagram yet again to vent his frustrations. “Diversity, love, multi ethnic worldwide multi generational, United Nations, One Race, Fast Family...... Until Dewayne showed up,” he wrote ominously, the latest in an ongoing feud between him and the former WWE champion.

“I tried to warn you guys,” he continued. “You thought I was hating...... I was simply fighting to keep the family together.” Doubtless Gibson is feeling more than a little aggrieved that Johnson is getting his own movie before the gang gets back together to film Fast & Furious 9, and this is not the first time he’s called his co-star out on social media for trying to make the franchise all about The Rock. The ninth movie has been delayed a full year to April 10, 2020, while Johnson and Statham’s spinoff, inspired by their delightful chemistry during The Fate of the Furious, is coming July 26, 2019. The spinoff news came only a day after the delay announcement, and Gibson smelled a rat.

In light of the news, Johnson simply tweeted, “My goal from day 1 was to come in and create an exciting/fun character for the fans, elevate the franchise and build it out. #HobbsShaw2019.” He didn’t address Gibson’s concerns directly, but, listen, the fans can tell.

Vin Diesel, the leader of the franchise and the man whom Johnson once referred to as a “candy ass,” has released a few cryptic social media posts, the first of which, on Friday, featured himself with Gibson and the late Paul Walker, and was simply titled “Brotherhood…”

Johnson is nowhere to be seen in the photo. Yikes.

But, since he always seems to be the peacemaker in these situations, Diesel posted another Instagram hours later of a screenshot of him and Johnson from Fast 5, the first in the franchise to introduce Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs. The delay of the ninth film is no one’s fault, he wrote, “However, like any vehicle that has run around the globe 8 times, the franchise is in need of maintenance.”

“We have some very exciting news to share soon... stay tuned,” he concluded. “Yours truly, Dom #FamilyAlways.” I’m not crying, there’s just some grease in my eye.

The thing about the whole Tyrese situation is that Tyrese been in the game for a long time, im taking over 15 Years+ Remember Baby Boy was 2001. He should of been hustling, Especially now where your in Hollywood your only good as your last movie. You should never depend on 1 pay check, You always have multiple streams of income. The Rock is doing another movie so the new fast and furious movie is going to be delayed. He does not give a fuck about no family, he needs his pay check thats what all this crying bullshit is about. The movie is going to be delayed and he is not going to get a check to pay his bills.

Also Tyrese is a typical bitch ass n!gga that was raise with a single mother, a lot of guys that are raised by single mothers are use to there mother crying about some shit and hope people will feel sorry for them, The difference between you and your mother or for any women is that they have bargaining chips which is pussy. Women who have pussy can always cry and some dude or simp will take care of them. Your a grown ass man, nobody feels sorry or gives a fuck about no grown ass man crying. especially a black one.

I thought they deaded that shit.

Who is they? Tyrese always been the problem the rock put up that one IG post and Tyrese won't let it go.

Talking about no more Roman Pierce, nigga fuck you and Roman Pierce.

They will John Boyega or Chadwick Boseman to replace his ass so fast! And not even as his shitty ass screaming character they will replace you with a nigga that actually does shit

Man universal talked about a Hobbs and Shaw spinoff right during the filming of 7...

I don't like the idea of 9 being pushed back, but it's better than nothing.

So it's really ain't Johnson fault as much as it is The studio

I thought they deaded that shit.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on this whole time

so I thought I would share...

then quickly realized

it was a complete waste of time.

but obviously im the dumb one

Tyrese out her squandering millions

and just $5 million on gp?

sidebar:

aint they hurricane effected areas, orphanages, public schools, homeless shelters and sickle cell disease research

that could have really really used a million each?

I aint hating, just asking

He lied about that 5 mil. Pay Tyrese no mind, he's a bona fide weirdo

:lol::roflmao::lol:

Yea his character acts like bitch anyway.

This is a one sided fued. Tyrese was fighting with Dwayne but Dwayne was too busy making movies and paying his bills on time to respond.

Yeah. And to think, everybody clowning Tyrese because of all his theatrics. At some point, when he calmed down or when the child abuse charges were dropped or maybe when Will and Jada stepped in... that's just too much... but anyway, at some point, he had someone tell him to walk those statements back and chill the fuck out.

People forget - ALL OF THIS STARTED WITH THE ROCK MONTHS AGO.

Diesel never responded to him and he kept it moving. In the film, we see they barely have any contact and they never had that face to face at the end. That speaks volumes but with those two powerhouses, business first. Now Tyrese talking shit online and Rock did him the same way Diesel did him.

That's life. Learn the lesson and keep it moving.
Tyrese is such a bitch ass nigga man.

Nigga you.need some MONEY!!!! Ain't no damn fast family.

THIS

I tried to make the point about the contracts and shit because I knew what he was thinking. I seen white folks do these deals before a dozen times but this aint gonna be that kinda operation. I didn't know Shaw was out too. That character is needed for the Hobbs spin off - unless they write him back in, it aint gonna feel right. But if The Rock moves on without Statham, I wouldn't be surprised.

He made them think it was about family to keep HIS check coming. You think if they offered him his own spinoff, he wouldn't say eff the family...I need this check.

No. He wouldn't leave for a spin off. The character aint that popular, it would be a failure and he knows it. That's the problem. He was brought in to be a co-lead and replace Diesel. People forget that. It was him and Paul Walker at the helm but they both were gone on the third film. When Diesel came back, he was working on another gig and then came back on the next flick. The Rock came in and (obviously) took his spot as third wheel, effectively pushing him to the back seat. Then Paul died. Rock moves up to co-lead star and everybody take a back seat to those two. Then Rock does spin-off and they push the flick back to 2020.

Yeah. That is some shit and there aint nothing he can do about it.

oNE

:lol::roflmao::lol:

Yea his character acts like bitch anyway.

Yeah and the character changed.

It wasn't written that way in Fast 2. I thought it was The Rock coming on that moved him to the back seat. Ok fine. But the character of Roman started off like a badass. Shirt off. Punching windows. Acting hard and ghetto. Talking shit. He was a thug nigga for sure and his voice was deeper.

Matter fact, I'm starting to think that HE himself relegated the character to comic relief bitch status. High pitch yelling and getting clowned every scene.

:smh:

Justin Lin is his boy though. They always been tight and I'm glad he brought him back but maybe he can restore some respect to that Roman character and... Tyrese too.

oNE

Idiots all! With a franchise like Fast & Furious with hundreds of millions out there to be made you would think these fools could put their differences aside. :smh:

RIGHT. THE ONLY BLACK FILM FRANCHISE. A BILLION DOLLAR FRANCHISE. A HISTORICALLY SUCCESSFUL FRANCHISE AT THAT.

This will never happen again. Ever. We are in new territory here folks. And between the top three stars, there is bitch made drama on social media almost all year. Insanity.

I'm not so much a fan of the films as I am a fan of all of them individually and what they are doing for filmmaking in general.

We gotta do better.
oNE

All it takes is one. :hmm:
So why are you referring to the cast as a whole? Tyrese was making $10-15mil per movie for the last two and by his own words was set to make $20mil on the next. He's mad because the Rock was offered a spin-off which would delayed the next FF and because his dumbass can't manage his own finances HE can't wait. Nobody else in the cast is bitching.
