I just got off the phone with the family. Keith passed away this morning. Not only was he a great friend, but I was fortunate enough to play bass for this man. Heatwave gave us a GREAT music, and he will be missed. I can still hear him telling me, "Wood, you sound just like the record!" I'm glad I always told him and his family that I loved them. This shit hurts.

Brother, I'm so sorry for your loss. I pray peace and comfort for you and the rest of Keith's loved ones and family.

Heatwave is one of my favorite bands of all time. I'm thankful to him for the amazing performances we all got to enjoy.

I know this is especially tough for you because you had a personal relationship with him and his family. Keep your head up and be there for his family.

One of my fondest memories with him was doing a gig in Decatur. We were doing "Ain't No Half Stepping", and Chet (Ohio Players) was on guitar, Carlos Santana's percussionist was on congas, and 2 members of the Horny Horns (Parliament/Funkadelic) sat in, because they heard they we went into "Tear The Roof Off" at the end of the song. I was in fucking heaven!!!!

When Lisa (his daughter) told me that he considered me as another son, that shit killed me! I'm hurting, but I'm hurting for his family more. They're some of the greatest people that you'll ever meet. Me and Lisa couldn't understand what each other was saying, because we cried through most of the convo. I know this is a part of life, but this shit hurts.

Is he the one that ran the group like a slave ship with Rob Templeton in the basement writing hits
No one ran the group like that. However, Keith brought Johnnie in, and Johnnie turned into an asshole. Johnnie turned down half the songs on MJ's "Off The Wall" album without telling the rest of the band. Those songs were written for Heatwave.

I remember as a kid singing used to always try, I want to do that last forever in always and forever. I swear I'm a man held that note FOREVER
