Cameo, but I never considered Cameo a trio (look at their line up in the mid 70s), and most of us are familiar with them before "Word Up."

I still cant pick a favorite!! Ive been jamming Drop the bomb and that song just doesnt get old!!

The band is named after streets (Greenwood, Archer, and Pine) in the historic Greenwood neighborhood in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma..to me this was the best part...always remember!

Cameo but Charlie Wilson has one of the most distinct voices in music history.

One of my favorite joints featuring his heir apparent, Aaron Hall

(If the show is still running) I'm thinking about going to see them when I'm in Las Vegas next month. The problem is I'm traveling with 8 people and the final choice is between them and Boyz II Men. I've seen Boyz II Men before, they put on a GREAT show in a much bigger/nicer Strip venue (Mirage) and their tickets start at only $39.95. I just don't think Cameo is worth paying twice as much to see in a cabaret room at the Westgate off strip (the old Las Vegas Hilton).

Cameo brings a fun and in-your-face show with a classic funk sound to the Westgate Cabaret. Comparable to Parliament Funkadelic early on, Cameo was a trendsetter through the 1970's and 1980's and even influenced early R&B and hip-hop acts. Their biggest hit, "Word Up," made it to number six on the pop chart in 1986, giving them their biggest bite of the mainstream.

I saw them in Late July 2016. The show is good but Let me tell you its short. Barely and hour. Those dudes were sweating. During that Hour they all went off stage while the drummer took an extended solo. I thought it was funny but my ol' Lady was kind of pissed. These guy's are Granddad's after all. Now if you buy that premium package you get to sit up front and I think you meet them after the show. The show was short but fun.

That same trip I also caught Penn and Teller which had a much longer show and afterward took pictures and signed autographs in the lobby with anyone who went to the show. No special packages required. If you're a fan I would definitely check these guys out or if you just want to see something different.

cameo when they were a 9 piece band, they were making dance songs and pantie wetters
totally different sound when the dropped down to three members
the gap band stayed consistent with three members throughout there time

Hard choices........Been so long since I've seen Cameo live.....But when they were on.....they blew shit up! Charlie Wilson's shows are all GAP Band.....and he doesn't disappoint. Both are tough live shows.....Roger & Zapp was better then both of them.....imho.

Fuck Larry for hating on rap, then doing word up.
If there's music we can use it
We need to dance.
We don't have time
For psychological romance
No romance
No romance
No romance for me
mama
Come on baby tell me what's the word.

I will always give props to the Greenwood Archer Pine(Site of the Tulsa Massacre) Band.

Cameo gets the vote.

They had better(and more) Funk jams.

They also had better(and more) slow jams.

Larry Blackmon also produced classic jams for other artists.
