Dude was a fuckin mess.Eddie passed away last year. The story of the store's collapse is crazy. Fraud, secret accounts in Israel, fleeing the country, jail time, etc.

Chi-Chi’s was launched in the 1970s by Marno McDermitt and NFL star Max McGee. The chain quickly grew, introducing a rudimentary menu of Mexican-style food to many American towns. However, as the popularity and variety of Mexican restaurants grew, Chi-Chi’s began to die out. The death knell for the franchise came in 2003 when a Hepatitis outbreak in the food supply led to three customer deaths.
I miss this place! Had the best warranties around. Proly one of the reasons they went under.. the warranty is like u drop it at home n break bring it back in and get a new one.. i dnt know y my pops used to call this place monkey wards..![]()
I wonder if Ripley's Believe it or Not is still around...great place for kids
I don't think the warranty policy is what killed them. When people buy on credit you best keep them Happy. People will shop where they get the Best service if the price difference small enough. Sears also does the same thing. Where Sears beat Wards was by getting into Suburbia first. I think it was Jack Tramiel founder of Commodore Computer who said "Business is War". History tells us that General's who understand where the next Battle Field is and truly understands the fight usually win. Wards CEO at that time was expecting another great depression and ran the company as such during the 50's. Essentially halting expansion and sat on his earnings. He got caught fighting the last war and Montgomery Wards paid for it long term.
BTW
I always thought people were saying "Monty Wards" but then I heard a few say Monkey so I am right there with you.
never seen blue chip stamps we had eagle stamps

Camelot Music was a leading mall-based retailer of prerecorded music and accessories and was one of the largest music retailers in the United States based on store count. In late 1998, Camelot was acquired by Trans World Entertainment, which later consolidated all of its mall-based music stores under the brand name f.y.e., including the remaining Camelot and The Wall locations.
