SNOWFALL FX discussion thread

Good episode.

Are they going into how the FBI created crack then flooded cocaine into the black community?

Or is this some bullshit excuse to put a black face on crack?

Guess they answered that question......

I was waiting for BGOL reviews before spending time on it. I'll wait for more and maybe a few weeks in before I check it out. I don't want to see any bullshit these days about black people being responsible for crack.

well at least from the previews that's not the case

BGOL is going to hate it ..well because it's BGOL.....even though it's john singleton

but I'll watch if its a decent show

Damn nobody seen this shit? I'm gonna check it out though. I'm not feeling how he tired to handle that Pac biopic and lied on LT and Benny but we're gonna give him another chance.

SOP of Hollywood.

I think the same of Singleton but TV is a totally different beast compared to film. You gotta get those ratings & he already has a strike due to the show being a "black" drama. You can have 12 episodes telling a detailed story & the 13th episode flips the entire script to some "alternate facts" bullshit, just to save the show. Or the show gets "re-written" because the ratings don't match the vision...

I don't like that REBEL bullshit.. either.. BRAH

Great show. We will know how the U.S. government was responsible of the American crack epidemic during the early 1980's. I remember those color top crack bottles all over the streets of Hollis, Queens then. Hillside Avenue to Jamaica Avenue.

Yeah got to see it today.......I gotta add this to the rotation.......I wonder if too much is going on for the casual viewer.......you have to sit and pay attention to what's goign on....I just hope this shit doesn't get cancelled because they can go so many places with this show.

If i'm gonna make one minor complaint.......I dont' think they introduced the main character or Frankie well enough.........they kind of hint why he's doing this shit but IMO, shit didn't make sense why he wanted to jump straight into the drug game.

I read a couple of reviews saying this is just a typical drug show that doesn't offer much more than what's already is out there.....which is false IMO.......there's nothing like this on TV and hasn't been since The Wire......something that shows so many different aspects of the drug game. On most shows either its a one sided viewpoint from the dealers point of view or from the cops point of view or the feds. The Wire was one of the only ones to even attempt it and this show is trying to too.....not saying its on The Wire level......we gotta see how this play out but I'm gonna commend them for not going with the typical one sided view.

He's after freedom like he said
He saw the straight way and saw it was rigged
He already has the training on how to run a business as he mentioned working at the shop
His mom is in dire need

I think they did a good job without beating us over the head with woe is me routine
Don't need to see trauma to understand there's trauma imo

Like instead of telling a story of how his pops fell off
Just show him as a bum walking across the street gone off them drugs and him riding past shedding a tear

I got all that stuff.....I'm just saying it usually takes one extreme for a character to go to the extreme......we kind of went with the cliche storytelling when they could've went harder. Especially since his character has been exposed to both sides....just a minor complaint or just something I saw and wondered about. Show was great.

But that's real though lol
Not everybody that sold crack went thru something extreme
You ain't have to go thru extreme stuff to sell drugs look how he fell into it.
That's how some of them actually got started

Watch it now. If you are familiar with the story.....it's worth it.

(SPOILER ALERT)

They already showed a CIA agent with a hot tub full of kilos of cocaine, when folk in the hood were still just selling weed and smoking sherm. This same agent has already overdosed on alcohol, cocaine and hookers in a graphic scene of a drug fueled orgy, complete with the Agent getting powder blown up his ass with a straw while getting his dick sucked.

(my question now is how will they portray the introduction of crack.......who develops the process and who teaches the kingpins that part of the game)

More importantly, the overdosing Agents partner is providing weapons and supplies to the contras and doesn't have any difficulty convincing the dead agent's supervisor that he should step in and keep the cocaine flowing to make money to buy weapons and supplies for the contranistas. (THIS IS THE STORY FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T WHO OLLIE NORTH IS)

I am in fully.
1000000%
The shit was really well done. All of the moving players are introduced already. Shows how someone can get caught up already. Shows how the CIA is in charge of the coke. It's 1 episode but they did a lot already.
totally in for this one

Exactly.

Exactly....sometimes they just fall into it. Just happen to know a guy..........and just happen to know some people......... and see a way to make some money, while hanging out at the places they already hang out at anyway. Nothing extreme, just an opportunity and desire to have more......

That's the same way the average person gets a job. Idk why people think it's complex.

Funny you mentioned "The Wire" as ole boy mom played Avon Barksdale sister.

That's my point.......go into his character some....show why he has a "Desire to have more"......

I thought the Spanish chick looked familiar
she was Jesse gf in Breaking Bad
a reporter on the Bridge
the daughter of the mayor in True Detective season 2
and now this

she get around and has a hell of resume

oh yeah i can dig this show and it will be appointment viewing for me this summer

Are you that fucking dense? He has a single mom in the hood. He sees his uncle living free selling weed having a house. His mom works a regular L7 job and she is struggling. His dad is absent. The community is bleak at best around him. He is a bright individual so he sees the big picture. Working of the man is a fucking scam. I mean do you need them to write everything out for you to understand?

because he's from the hood lol
there doesn't have to be a grand reason i like the simplicity
he sees his mom struggle and put up with bullshit he saw school was bullshit he clearly is intelligent he was valedictorian at the valley school and got into college easily.

Yo did niggas back in the day really blow coke up they asshole I heard of putting it in your pee hole Richard Pryor joked about that, but that scene had me like

:roflmao3:

damn surprised by the hate the show is getting on here
this show aint an accurate retelling of history but it aint the Wire either...hopefully it will be somewhere in between

i found the premiere to be entertaining. The best part of the show being the lead. I look foward to seeing where his arc goes but he is ambitious, charismatic and intelligent
