If Warriors Sweep Cavs In NBA Finals They Could Lose Out On $22 Million

by Joshua Schrock on Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 7:57PM5,485 Share this:

The Golden State Warriors are two consecutive wins away from sweeping the 2017 NBA Finals and finishing the NBA playoffs with a perfect 16-0 record. And that could cost them. ESPN’s Darren Rovell did the math in a recent article, and if the Warriors complete the sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers, it will cost the franchise roughly $22 million by not hosting Games 5 and 7 at Oracle Arena. That’s double what is owed to star guard Stephen Curry for the 2017-18 season. How Rovell came to that conclusion involves a lot of math, but here’s the simple breakdown. Rovell estimates each NBA Finals game at Oracle Arena is worth $13.5 million in face-value ticket revenue.

The NBA gets 25 percent of that, which brings the total to $10,125,000 per game the Warriors will miss out on. The Warriors, according to Rovell, also could make up to $1.5 million on resale tickets through Ticketmaster. Rovell estimates that roughly 3,500 tickets will be exchanged on the site for Game 5 and 7 at a price of $1,800 (Game 5) and $2,400 (Game 7).

That brings the Warriors’ ticket sales take to $10,755,000 (Game 5) and $10,965,000 (Game 7), respectively. Sponsored Experience more on your next Silversea cruise with American Express Travel Ad by American Express Travel But wait, there’s more. Rovell also estimates the Warriors would take home $17.50 (Game 5) and $20 (Game 7) per fan in concessions and merchandise, meaning a sweep could cost Golden State an extra $332,500 (Game 5) and $380,000 (Game 7). So, according to Rovell’s math, the Warriors could lose out on $11,087,500 for Game 5, and $11,345,000 for Game 7, respectively, if they make NBA history.

But for some reason, we think owner Joe Lacob will take the loss if his team avenges last season’s NBA Finals defeat.

Y'all making a big fuss over a series that's 3-1. At least wait and see if the Cavs win game 5 to start trying to create some drama. As for now, this shit still over.

Pretty much. The Warriors are about to unleash a stimulus package at home. A barrage.

The thing is, they have to stop fouling so much and get back to cerebral basketball. Green, you're not a star, stop acting like one. Get with the fundamentals.

Man 2015 finals was so so, cats laughed but it was understood the cavs wasn't at full strength....because the always hurt love and kyrie....

2016 thread was crazy ass hell....didn't realize we had so many fools amoung us....

If history repeats is self...those data errors that's been happening every night round 10:30pm, might shit this bitch down completely. Y'all dudes ain't gonna be able to keep up. There gonna be some of us fools take off of work just to talk shit all day long.

:lol:I got home about 2 last night and started reading and the way the Warriors fans were panicing on social media and here you would've thought the series was tied 3-3. Excuses out the ass, and now today they've come with the new excuse of THE WARRIORS LOST ON PURPOSE BECAUSE THEY WOULD'VE LOST 22 MILLION DOLLARS IF THEY SWEPT THE CAVS, they have a 3-1 lead and are in full panic mode. Man i hope the Cavs win Monday so i can see how quiet it starts getting:lol::roflmao::roflmao2:

Magic, Kareem, Shaq have all been swept in Finals. Didnt hurt their standings at all as legends.

Last years win was legit, 2016 Warriors are the biggest chokers in Finals history. No one will ever take that away from them right? Right?

Legit my ass. The Cavs were getting fucked every which way but sideways until they're bitch ass, YES bitch ass went begging like pussy bitches to suspend Green for TWO games. For fuckin' what? Glancing James' balls. A play that was reviewed live and deemed nothing on the floor. They almost did it again last night. Muthafuckas panicked and called a second technical on Green. Fuckin setup.

Good luck in Oakland GOAT my ass.

Man just watched the replay of that 1st quarter and cats talking about the Cavs shooting 22 free throws, the only call that was bs was the foul that Iggy got on Lebron when Lebron had him in the low post. All the other calls came when the Cavs were taking the ball all the way to the hole and made the Warriors have to make contact. There were none of those ticky tack fouls, except the Iggy one, that dudes trying to act like there was

Man it's simple you attack normally you'll get fouled. Shoot jumpers take the pressure off the defense & refs....it's that easy

Let me put it simple for y'all simple cats... 22 free throws in the first quarter for the Cavs. The refs helped them start out strong and fast. Cavs to their credit hit shots at a historic clip. Role players that weren't doing shit all series had a chance to get a rhythm with all momentum all game long. Any time it looked like the Warriors would try to make a run there was a whistle to stop play. The second half was when the refs started trying to even their calls back out but it didn't matter because the damage was done and the Cavs rode that wave from the first throughout the whole game. Games 3&4 were skewed in the Cavs favor via the refs trying to control momentum.

Naw you was right...the three pointers was the difference
It was the refs according to these clown ass niggas. It was disgraceful man.. these niggas was acting like they was watching the rodney king beating for the first time the way they was crying.. :crymeariver:

No comments when Steph shot 11 in the first Q by him dam self in a prior game tho?

I'll admit I don't know how many free throws off top that the warriors shot vs the cavs game 3 in the first quarter but that is a lot for 1 quarter for 1 player. Although I will say Curry doesn't get near the foul calls he should on a regular basis.

here a link to Game 4, go back and watch the 1st quarter and tell me what you saw, tell me which foul other than the one on Iggy was a ticky tack. The Cavs ended the 1st quarter 14-22 from the FT while the Warriors were 11-11. At the 7:29 mark the Cavs were up by 15 and they had shot 3 FTs while the Warriors had shot 4
