Hope it's a good battle. Their 1st fight in late-2014 was one of the better fights of the year, with both not champs at that time, and with JDS having won it, but Miocic is currently holding the strap.

Yeah - looking forward to Poirier-Alvarez, Maia-Masvidal, Skelly-Knight, Rodriguez-Edgar, and Jotko-Branch too.

Branch is making his UFC return after years away, and recently being the 2-division champ at WSOF. Edgar is basically the gatekeeper at 145/155 - you have to get by him to get a title shot (Aldo and Henderson have been his kryptonite over the years, after he himself had held the 155 strap previously) ... Maia's on a roll in recent years, as has been Masvidal. Mas' needs to make sure his ground work & takedown defense are on point throughout ... Skelly and Knight are scrappy ... Poirier-Alvarez are the headliner of the prelims. I hope that one goes at least 2 - 3 rounds and is up for FOTN bonus $ - don't want a quick finish in that one.

Should be interesting to see how the card plays out.



- If Miocic / JDS is a crazy battle ... it would set up a good eventual trilogy fight for them.

- Rodriguez is looking for a title shot within the next 1 or 2 years.

- If Andrade beats Joanna J' ... there might be a rematch soon thereafter with JJ being champ the past 2+ years, and having already defeated other top contender Claudia Gadelha twice. If Joanna wins ... look to see her match up with Rose Namajunas within the next fight or two.

- Big fan of both Alvarez and Poirier ... hope that one really delivers leading into the main card.

- Maia and Masvidal are both gunning for their own title shot at 170lbs ... the UFC would clearly like Masvidal to win as he's an action fighter, compared with Maia who is older in years (late-30s) and tough to promote as a BJJ expert who stifles the likes of Condit, Brown, Nelson, and more. Masvidal's last loss is to Lorenz Larkin who is now in Bellator and fighting for their title at the PPV in NY in late-June.

Props to James Vick. He's fun to watch in that division with the height and reach advantage, and accurate striking.

GDamn. The heavyweights were scrapping. Leg kicks proved effective in the 1st round. 2nd round really picked up with some of the quick momentum shifts and wild flurries. Props to both Sherman and Coulter.

I never noticed it before, but after watching some videos of fighters talking about it, I really don't like that they have to pretty much beg Dana for extra money on television. For most they are fighting for scraps without that bonus.

He had him hurt, the uppercut was the only punch available in that clinch and it doesn't need that much leg to get the pop on it, but he only threw it once or twice.
