2017 CHICAGO BEARS Off-Season Thread

Mike Glennon :dunno:

14 or 15 isn't a lot for a starting QB

Get through this year, draft a QB in next years draft which is supposed to be better.

Maybe that's not too much for a starter per se, but its way too much for Glennon. Id rather just start Matt Barkley again over paying Glennon and spend that money elsewhere. Has Glennon done anything since he been in the league?

Woke up this morning, looked at my phone and.........

As stated earlier. #3 better be Best defensive player available. I want Hooker, Adams or even Allen or Thomas. Then focus on Secondary, TE and maybe another OT or WR

They lost out on Stephon Gilmore and the OT they wanted. They have a good offer on the table for AJ Bouye. They better sign Jefferey back and grab some more depth.

For completeness sake...

One thing is Tampa Bay allegedly wanting to keep him and it being a small market drove the price up some.

Besides that, this is essentially a one year deal.

The only QB's on the market were Kaep and Cutler

Im not tripping about the QB that we grabbed. They signed dude as a "bridge". Imho, theyll draft a QB for the future sooner or later. The excuse about our OL being complete shit is no more, cause that has actually improved a WHOLE lot and will only get better. We also got some nice ass RB's.

Right now Im more so wondering about our receivers and our secondary. Is Kevin ready to be a #1? Will his health allow it? Will they draft a QB early, a defensive player (secondary) or shock and draft a WR???

We'll see!

BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grabbed more cheap receiver help. Good pick up for that price, imho, if he can stay healthy.

Kendall Wright joins Chicago Bears on one-year deal

Chicago's offensive rebuild continued Saturday with the acquisition of a promising wide receiver on the cheap.

The Bears agreed to terms with former Titanswideout Kendall Wright on a one-year, $4 million deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The team later confirmed it agreed with Wright and offensive lineman Tom Compton. Wright was No. 59 on Around the NFL's Top 101 free agents list.

Wright takes the roster spot of the recently-departed All-Pro receiver Alshon Jeffery. Entering his sixth season since being drafted in the first round by Tennessee, Wright will get a fresh start on a "prove-it" deal in Chicago, alongside unproven options in Kevin White and Cameron Meredith.

Wright said in January that he was ready to be "free" of the Titans, with whom he saw his role gradually diminish following a breakout 2013 campaign. Fond of freelancing as a top target in Tennessee, it's unclear what role Wright will play with the Bears, but with the roster as thin as it is, there's room for upward mobility on the depth chart.

Through three days of free agency, Chicago has now added two receiving options -- the Bearsacquired Markus Wheaton on Friday -- and a new quarterback, Mike Glennon. The offense in Chicago will be a young, inexperienced one, which will make it all the more intriguing come September.

I didn't know we picked up Wheaton

Wheaton, Wright and Meredith

I'm still not sure what White brings or if he can be counted on

Free agency is a tough place to navigate. Not everyone you try to sign will want to come and play for you. Its the freedom of choice that gets most franchises and why its so hard to land people that could help. In retrospect, the Mike Glennon move is not a bad move. Im sad to see Alshon go but honestly, once B Marsh left, he was done, you could tell. I hope things work out for him. (Idk about that 1 year prove it deal he made but whatever).

As far as Pace, man at least I can say he is trying. He has a plan and its pretty easy to see. Plug holes during free agency without overpaying. If your going to overpay, it has to be on young talent with a lot of upside. Depending on how holes are filled in Free Agency, take BPA in the draft and roll the dice. Being able to take BPA increases the chance that you hit on talented player than trying to fill need, guessing on prospects and drafting someone too high.

Im honestly not upset with Pace at all. If he drafts like he did last year... I'll be happy.

I wouldn't trip if they didn't take a QB at all this year. This class is not that impressive overall. But he should take a stab at someone. Next year is the QB class with some prospects that can take a team into the playoffs..... possibly.

As far as the draft. I really want them to trade out of the #3 pick..... maybe they can with the Jets or the Jags....

Schedule is murda..

Its gonna be brutal esp if injuries pile up again. Offense is a yuge question mark and Fox gives me zero confidence in life.

Not really NFC south ass

Falcons still mad about Super Bowl

I just see losses to greenbay and lions

Next morning opinion im not as mad at the pick itself as I m at having given up so many picks.

Really hope we get Budda Baker Rd 2

Off to a great start guys. Trading the farm to move up one spot for a guy nobody was checking for until ten picks later at best.
You guys picked a guy who EVERYBODY was staying away from

And he has shoulder injuries

Fuck Andrews, he told yall RGKnee was healthy

:(

I don't get that shit at all

Trubisky better better turn in to the best QB we've had in 40 years, which truthfully ain't hard . :smh:
I'm going as high as Peyton manning

Wayyyyy better than Wentz and that cocksucker Andrew Luck

I'm setting the bar for Peyton manning

Damn, looking at this again, you guys overpaid for something that you were going to get for free. Do we know if anyone was trying to trade for the 2nd pick to get this guy?

Word was other teams knew 69ers was takin thomas so they wanted to make a deal with them to get money Mitch

We went all in for the outbid

U see the chiefs got into the top 10 from 27!

Niners GM John Lynch was like O Dawg in the Menace II Society movie
to bears front office management

"Break yo'self, fool" give me those 4 picks for the 3rd best ranked QB in the draft,
while listening to Spice 1 "Dumpin Em In Ditches"

:mad:trubisky better work the fuck out in a bears uniform

All true..but have to hope for the best at this point. Wet dream is to some how hope there's a team out there hungry enough to trade down with and get some of those pics back and still get a safety

Hoping for the best, is not how to be a gm. In a draft stock full of defensive talent, and the fact that we had, the number 3 pick was not the time to get cute for a qb nobody was checking for until draft time, we have so many defensive needs, we have a qb now, no need to rush to get one that was not a consensus homerun

Thats the million dolla question...both GMs claim other teams wanted to move, but who really knows. My opinion you stay at 3, keep your picks and draft whatever Qb is there later or not at all..

thank you

This is why I don't even bother watching Bears drafts. Never fails. Any high pick they get, they do some dumbshit, or waste. You pay a guy to be your QB for the next few seasons at least. No good WRs for him to throw to, avg Oline, decent front 7, but below avg secondary, could use a great pass rusher while we're at it... All of those things can be addressed with the 3rd pick, or trade down and get more picks to add depth. What do they do??? Trade up to get a QB no one wanted that high in the draft. All those holes are still there, but now we have less picks to fill them with. Good job Pace... Emery... Angelo... I won't throw Hatley under the bus, at least he had a plan. But same shit, every GM...
