Step 1) Setup an account with coinbase.com (I notice a few people are already on this). When you use a debit/ credit card the money transfer is instant.

Step 2) Buy Bitcoin at coinbase.com which is also instant after you fund your account using your debit/ credit card.

Step 3) Instead of using kraken, I prefer using poloniex.com. At poloniex.com, you don’t need to wait for days for verification. Setting up an account is very straight forward, simple and instant. Once the account is active, you will transfer your bitcoin you have at coinbase.com to poloniex.com

Step 4) To transfer money to poloniex from coinbase, you must be login to both accounts. First at poloniex homepage, go to the “Balances” drag down menu at the top right corner and click on “Deposits and Withdrawals”. At that page you will see a long list of cryptocurrency, look for “BTC” Bitcoin line. To the far right of the screen you see “Deposit” and “Withdraw”. Click on Deposit. Once you click on “Deposit” you will see a “Bitcoin Deposit Address”. Copy that address. Now go to your coinbase account and at the left side of the screen click “Send/ Requests” tab. There paste the “Bitcoin Deposit Address” where it says “Recipient”. Below that you will put how much Bitcoin you want to transfer to poloniex. Now just click on the blue tab “Send Funds”.

Step 5) Go back to poloniex, but now at the “Balances” drag down menu click “History”. Here is where you see the money transfer from your coinbase account to your poloniex account. This takes roughly 5-10 minutes, sometimes faster.

Step 6) Now you have money at cryptocurrency exchange “Poloniex” and you will be able to buy any ALT coin you want. To make a purchase, click on the “Exchange” tab at the top left hand of the screen. Once there, go to the “Markets” panel at the right side of the screen and type “XRP” for ripple. After you do that, scroll down, and on the left side you see “Buy XRP”. Don’t touch the “Price BTC” field, just type in the amount of Ripple you want to buy in the “Amount XRP” field. It does the calculation for you in the bottom where it says “Total BTC”.

Step 7) After you make your purchase, go back to the “Balances” drag down menu and click “Deposit and Withdrawals”. Scroll all the way down to XRP and your newly purchase ripple is here. Now you can keep it here or you can make a withdraw to your ripple wallet.

I have not found a ripple wallet that I like yet, so my steps ends here.

Some helpful tips

I recommend on creating a new email address just for your cryptocurrency activities only.

I also recommend making a difficult password for each of three accounts (new email account, coinbase account and your poloniex account) you have associated with cryptocurrency (this should already be a given). If you need help on doing that these two websites should give you some help to test the strength of your password

BTW poloniex does not work in the state of New York, due to the Bitcoin license law. The alternative website will be https://bittrex.com/

Are you preparing a strategy to address the capital gains taxes?

I'm thinking I can handle long term but if this shit blow less than a year and I want to cash out, those short term taxes got me thinking of giving up my citizenship :giggle:
 
Bottom is falling out a bit. I was hoping for this. If this becomes very volatile I'm going to trade it.

It'll have to hit something too good to be true in order for me to cash out before the gains tax kicks in.
If there's some miracle rush and it gets to like $40 bucks
I'm making millions and I'll eat the taxes.

But like I said from jump, if that happens I'll make my money but still have significant holdings.. so if it does fall i still cashed out and if it rises again i can do it again...

They just called me and I spoke to a live person to verify. Uncharted waters for me. I told him not to record me. Just waiting to get verified on other sites so I can do wires and shit. I'm not doing that again.

What apps do yall use to keep up with the price?

I too sold at .045 and am buying in right now at .039...got more than I originally had ...but when it blows again....mofos better not come with that BS server crash shit...this time I'm taking the cash out at the top. if they screw up again, I got to find another exchange.

but like I said...got in at .006 so imnot complaining per se..but I'm mad bc I could have walked away with 14K USD if my sell order at .07 had went through.....im still salty. but its a learning experience too.

Ahhh you non NY niggaz are so lucky. I have to lie to polo and they cap me at 2g's cause I can't verify. I exchange like a muthafucka between bitstamp Coinbase and polo.
 
This is one hell of a roller coaster, yesterday taught me that I'm still unprepared/don't have a winning exit strategy. I'm kicking myself in the ass for not selling when it hit .07 yesterday, now it's back down to .02. I know this is a long hold game but man oh man it feels like I screwed up by not cashing out and then buying at .02 today. I guess the flip side of this is that XRP could be at .50 today and I'd be REALLY kicking myself in the ass for selling at .07. lol I'm curious of what most people have planned for their XRP, hold and wait or continuously try to time the wave.
 
Damn lol. I really wish I had more time to devote to this. I was in when the original thread was created lost interest when it didn't pop put all of mine in bitcoin then last night put it all on XRP but it was around 5 check the post today and it's down lol lost about half my doe. I am not moving this money out of XRP for nothing. It's there until I see it hit 1 buck or 2. 'Matter of fact bout to buy another 500 worth..

Man last night my account was at 8k I sold 40,000 for 2k still got about 120k left... if it falls back below 1 cent I'm buying another 100k
