Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

So this is what I'm going to do, fam. Would love your opinion....

Purchase BTC through CB to deposit into Poloniex, then purchase Ripple there. Now I just have to have a reliable calculator.

How does this sound? Only thing is, should I trust my cc info with CB?
That's what I do

thank goodness that muthafucka coming down a bit lol...I'm wait to see if it go to a $0.010 or even $0.09 and dump 3k on it

It will retrace because at 80% increase in one day there will be massive sell pressure the next 24 hours.

May not go below $0.01 though.

The thing about Ripple is that even at say $0.03 its a damn steal if we all know it will be $1 minimum in some time.

Props to those who jumped on this early. I never got into digital currencies, so I never had the confidence to invest.

I'm doing the research, and I got a few stacks. Maybe I'll join in soon.

What y'all investment portfolios looking like? How much do you have invested in the various currencies?

i started off with $1500 and now my portfolio is almost 6k. I think we jumped in about 3 months ago at the most...Jump in, just make sure to look at the videos Curt posted . Especially the one with the man walking on the beach and telling about the trends and emotions of trading. HE IS ON POINT.

MATH HELP REQUESTED (these numbers are arbitrary):

ok if 1 XRP = .006 in JANUARY
and if 1 XRP = .018 in APRIL
then
initial invest = 100 USD
current holding = 300 USD
% increase in value is 300% ....correct?

so if at some near future point, XRP = 1.00 USD
then initial invest of 100 USD will = 10,000 USD

OR evaluating differently

at some near future point, If the value of 100,000 XRP at 1.00 USD = 100,000 USD

how much is the % increase from .006 USD? what would be the value in USD?

This is what I do:

https://poloniex.com/exchange#usdt_xrp

there's a calculator where you can put any number into the calculator. I use it to put in hypothetical numbers based on what I own, and it will show you its worth in USD.

Good post I found on ripple forum:

Lets be very grounded, and just consider immediate market where ripple is already going commercial as of now. and considering those facts, lets assume the following:

Assumption 1.) ripple cloud solution using RCL - becomes a widely accepted solution for just cross-border transaction.
Assumption 2.) Lets say just Japan, Europe, India, Emirates, UK and US are the adapters.
Assumption 3.) Lets assume ripple's RCL backed cloud based solution now accounts for just mere 10 % of the cross border transactions among these countries.
Assumption 4.) So, Currencies in play are USD, GBP, DNH, JPY, EUR and INR.

first, lets the market share in USD value and lets just take US, UK, Japan and Emirates as major outgoing(aka: Sender) countries. Taking data from year 2015 'actual' readings of general migrant remittances (by ordinary working people sending money to family etc)and using pewresearch (http://www.pewglobal.org/interactives/remittance-map/) as a reliable source.

Cumulative Total = 3.725 Million $ USD.

World bank while providing these estimates, says this to include around 15 to 53 % of immigrant worker based remittances. I know bad percent, but to be fair, tracking this is hard. So lets take a simple worst case buffer of 47%.

so that is 3.725 + (3.725 * 0.47 ) ~= 5.5 Million $ USD.

total remittance performed with ripple infrastructure ( as per our realistic assumptions ) is 5.5 Million USD. the fun part of this relatively small number is, this gives very good estimate of a percentage calculate that banks need to maintain regularly in their accounts. Usually around 37% of expected flow in various currency baskets for player currencies. That's the financial industry Goldilocks ( although changes from country to country and regional dynamics, but never the less its safe assumption).

So 37% of 5.5 = 1.925 million $ USD. at current value of (0.006 USD per XRP or around 160 XRP per USD) , there will be a need at the bare minimum to hold around 0.307 Billion (307 million) XRP. this is continuous holding. the bare minimum.

If this one simple bare bottom minimal use case locks 30% of all available XRP at current valuations.. let that line sycn in ... hmmm

So gives us a VERY CLEAR idea of how less 1 billion XRP is at current value, will run out quickly -actually very quickly.

if you ask me, it should at the very least be somewhere around 0.37 to 0.4 cents to be viable. for me personally (no advice of any kind) this is like my minimal growth guarantee based on current real world use cases. and thats merely 10% market share of day to day normal migrant worker home transfer based remittance market. a very small portion of the use-case indeed.

any realistic needs of the ecosystem will need xrp at the least 7 cents and above. and when the traders see this movement do you think they will not hoard any xrp ? :-)

and by the way - this value will not be achieved in some 2020 or 2022 if you ask me. as clearly exhibited with real use case, the japan bank-folk are going live.... by latest 3rd quarter of this year - more stories are developing .... then it has to build up ... So we shoudl see this valuations latest by 2018 end ...

based on this and many other calculations, I feel confident that xrp will atleast be 5 cents by 2018 end. most probably 0.8 usd or more.

Good Post,
Problem with these calculations is that nobody can truly predict where all this shit is headed
Good or Bad....it depends on the PEOPLE at the end of the day.
If we SAY it's worth something then it is....Use Bitcoin as an example.
I'm guessing Banks would like it to settle at 1-2 bucks and be ultra stable like a dollar would be
cause you don't wanna settle up with a bank and 5 hours later that payment is worth 50% more
#2Cents

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm after seeing other coins fluctuate but damn XRP is taking off way faster than I estimated.Last night was unbelievable. My original plan was to try and slowly get 1 million by flipping the same bitcoin in Polo and adding it to my Kraken account of Ripple. But how fast this market is moving, I might just go in when it gets around a penny.

When you sell, are you cashing out or moving the profits to another coin?
i sell for BTC on Poloniex and leave the BTC there to invest. Right now most of my investment is sitting in XRP. I also have money in PASC (i know it is dumb). I bought 4000 PASC when it was ~ .015. Today its at .022

On Poloniex there is what is called USDT you can transfer out to that at anytime and it is the equivalent of 1 usd, You can stay in usdt till you are ready to hop back in......

true...that's why I imagine the ripple folks maintain control of the supply. I want to see it at around 1 USD but would like it better at 5-7 USD and stable. I can divest from that point and re-invest into more lucrative avenues. but if it hits 1 dollar, I want to be sitting on 1 million XRP, just in case, the powers that be decide to let it go to 7-15 USD. I can really see it stabilizing around 5-7 USD. by then most of BGOL will have made a nice ROI. at 3USD would be my mark to divest some and leave some invested.

What about transfering to your bamk?
you can transfer to your bank by transferring back to coinbase (as BTC) and then onto your bank. Note that any amount over 5k these days will get you flagged. it used to be 10k, but now banks are trying to meet there reporting requirement. so if you bank isn't used to seeing large amounts transferred between your accounts, be ready for some questions and maybe a review from treasury/IRS people.

Big time article about Ripple

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ripple-2-year-high-market-cap-800-million/

Ripple has roared to a 26-month high, gaining over $400 million in market capitalization in a 24-hour trading period leading into the day.

After Litecoin took off yesterday, Ripple has taken the baton for alternative coins today in what has been a significant month for the major alternative cryptocurrencies. Ethereum set price records earlier this month, reaching nearly $60 with a market cap of over $5 billion.

Ripple started making notable gains yesterday, rising from $0.0098 to $0.01. On the last day of March, Ripple’s XRP token soared from $0.01 to $0.0205, nearly doubling in a 13-hour period. The cryptocurrency is now trading at levels last seen in January 2015.

Data shows significant trading volume on Poloniex, over $50 million USD in the last 24 hours in the XRP/BTC trading pair.

While market observers look to spot answers for Ripple’s tremendous gains, Ripple announced a new partner in Japan’s largest bank, MUFG. The Japanese banking giant, which is also the third largest bank corporation in the world, announced that it chose Ripple to join its Global Payments Steering Group. The interbank group, essentially a network of global banks, will help support Ripple’s payment transaction rules and standards for international money transfers using the Ripple blockchain. MUFG has also become the first bank to announce a concrete roadmap in the space, one that will offer international money transfers commercially over a Ripple-powered blockchain.

Ripple’s meteoric rise has spurred the cryptocurrency to #3 on the global list, scaling above the likes of Monero, Litecoin and Dash.

you have to transfer the usdt to bitcoin and then get it out at coinbase or kraken.

Cool. I haven't tried yet. I was going to do a test run one of these days.

I have positions on Kraken and Bitstamp and I use Polo and Coinbase as vessels for buying and selling

Out of curiosity, how would you transfer XRP to Bitcoin in Poloniex?

Hey if you have XRP that you wanna make more off of go to polo and lend it. Trades are getting crazy interest right now.

Also to all the newcomers that do bank transfers. Use bitstamp. You can send your USD straight there and buy XRP. I did this when it was low and it was way easier than the Kraken process to me as it was straight USD to XRP...just putting it out there if anyone is thinking about it.
